Launched earlier in 2024, the Marketplace business aims to deliver rapid growth of relevant choices to customers through Nordstrom digital platforms. The Marketplace digital team exists to plan, prepare, run, and optimize the marketplace business model at Nordstrom. We partner externally with Marketplace sellers and technology partners and internally across the organization to deliver a compelling customer and seller experience, rooted in Nordstroms purpose to help our customer feel good and look their best.

 

As a Seller Acquisition Associate for Marketplace at Nordstrom, you will be responsible for managing inbound requests and vetting potential sellers to ensure they meet our marketplace requirements. You will pitch small and medium sized business on the marketplace program as well as play a critical role in maintaining an up-to-date brand pipeline. A deep understanding of fashion trends and brand knowledge is essential to assess brand fit for Nordstroms marketplace. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves on a growing team, take initiative in iterating on processes, and continuously enhance strategies for optimal business performance.

Bonus for any experience in a fashion buying organization, as well as familiarity with Mirakl, ChannelAdvisor, CommerceHub, or other marketplace technologies.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquire sellers based on marketplace sourcing strategies that deliver against specific category frameworks built by Category Management
  • Handle inbound requests vet sellers to ensure they meet marketplace requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date brand pipeline.
  • Utilize your fashion expertise and brand knowledge to assess brand fit for Nordstroms marketplace.
  • Pitch the benefits of the marketplace program to potential sellers, highlighting the advantages of partnering with Nordstrom.
  • Collaborate with internal onboarding team to prepare new sellers for seamless onboarding and ensure a positive experience throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with internal category management team to align on sourcing strategies against defined frameworks within the category – balancing proactive and reactive go to market strategies to grow and scale the marketplace business

 

The seller acquisition associate is responsible for achieving key results (OKRs) and be able to be flexible and pivot as we move forward to maximize results. As a newer team within digital, the first year will be about building the functional processes and operations to support the foundation of our marketplace business. As we scale, the associate could shift to specialize in specific categories and becoming a subject matter expert in the best sellers for marketplace in that category, and have the skill to sign long-term, scalable business of those sellers for Nordstrom’s marketplace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or a similar role, preferably within the retail or e-commerce industry.
  • Excellent Excel skills with the ability to analyze data and maintain detailed records.
  • Strong understanding of fashion trends and brand knowledge, particularly within the context of Nordstroms brand identity.
  • Exceptional communication to effectively pitch the marketplace program to potential sellers.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving and achieving goals.
  • Comfortable with constant change, building and iterating processes regularly

California: $59,500-$110,500 annually, Colorado: $59,500-$95,000 annually, Connecticut: $59,500-$110,500 annually, Hawaii: $59,500-$95,000 annually, Nevada:$59,500-$95,000 annually, New York: $59,500-$110,500 annually, Rhode Island: $59,500-$95,000 annually, Washington: $59,500-$110,500 annually, Washington DC: $69,000-$110,500 annually
