Safety Manager Job Description

• We are technology driven. Candidates must have working knowledge of our TMW IT Platform and Total Mail. Using Peoplenet ELDs, DVRs and camera solutions, the position requires trouble-shooting, training and supporting our drivers with Hours of Service reporting and compliance.
• Assisting VP, Safety & Compliance in preparing, revising and updating Policies & Procedures.
• Ensure that all federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, recorded and reported as required.
• Be on-call 24/7 to handle accidents, coordinate emergency response, and communicate with Corporate Safety. This is a shared responsibility of the Safety Team.
• Conduct terminal safety meetings, and conduct compliance audits and inspections to evaluate adherence with Safety P&Ps.
• Minimum 60% travel to visit assigned terminals; expenses reimbursed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with 4 to 5 years of safety experience in transportation industry preferred; may consider experience in lieu of education.
• NATMI Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS)
• Preferred 5 years prior experience in cargo tank truck safety.
• Extensive knowledge of DOT / FMCSA, PHMSA, FRA, EPA, OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of safety principles and concepts and loss prevention and reduction.
• Knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures and investigative skills.
• Good organizational skills and leadership ability.
• Must possess the ability to make presentations to both employees and customers.
• Knowledge of tank truck equipment.
• Excellent people skills.
• Proficient in using software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of time.
