Job Description:


As a Proposal Engineer in the Client Services group, you will act as the primary liaison between client services and various internal and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, outside sales, and engineering). The Proposal Engineer works collaboratively with these stakeholders to review commercial opportunities and develop effective solutions using NEI services. The Proposal Engineer is also responsible for reviewing and managing incoming requests for proposals (RFPs). This position works on a variety of projects, spanning both civil engineering and medium-to-high voltage electrical engineering, and includes:

  1. Renewable Energy (Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage)
  2. Electrical Utility Infrastructure (Electrical Substations and Transmission Lines)
  3. Industrial electrical (Water/Wastewater, Data Centers)


Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 / year

Based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.


This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.


Essential Responsibilities

  1. Provides pre-sales technical support to customers and the NEI outside sales team
  2. Acts as a liaison between client services and relevant internal and external stakeholders
  3. Reviews customer specifications and assists in formulating and communicating the commercial strategy to best address customer needs
  4. Reviews and manages incoming RFPs: defining technical requirements, identifying appropriate internal resources, managing the proposal process, developing/writing custom proposals, and issuing quotes
  5. Works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish proposal pricing; provides timely responses to technical, application, and commercial questions
  6. Provides engineering & technical support to the business development & project services team
  7. Develops and maintains outstanding company-client relationships
  8. Maintains high ethical and professional standards
  9. Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, and classes as appropriate
  10. Attends safety training and adheres to safety rules and guidelines
  11. Other responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a similar field from an accredited institution
  2. Experience: 1 - 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
  3. Understanding and application of engineering Codes and Standards
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project)
  5. Basic understanding of electrical and civil engineering, especially in renewable energy, substations, transmission lines, and industrial infrastructure
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  7. Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced design environment
  8. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  9. Commercial understanding of engineering or construction industries
  10. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time


Work Environment: Primarily office-based, some fieldwork may be required

Travel: Typical 5 – 15%

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 25 lbs
