Job Description:

Be a part of a dynamic team dedicated to the cause of supporting educators working to enact the new vision of teaching and learning articulated in A Framework for K12 Science Education. NSTA is looking for a Project Manager. The Project Manager contributes to NSTA’s mission by assisting the Professional Learning and Conferences Division in the development and implementation of all programs. The Project Manager will work closely with the Program Manager to lead this division of professionals in completing projects by a set deadline and in upholding data-informed and sustainable business practices. A critical component of this position will be the ability to break down tasks into manageable steps that will enable the Professional Learning and Conferences Division to innovate and grow. This position will report to the Program Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Planning

· Use the project’s scope, goals, and deliverables to create a schedule, timeline, and establish milestones. Revise plan based on feedback from directors/project leads.

· Create long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.

 

Management

· Assist in assembling and managing the project team, assign duties, and track progress.

· Allocate resources and assist with budget management.

o Delegate project tasks to employees best positioned to complete them.

o Serve as a point of contact when multiple teams are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.

o Adhere to budget by monitoring expenses and suggesting cost-saving measures.

o Organize and oversee workflows and monitor requirements to meet timelines and quality expectations.

o Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change.

 

Communication

· Keep stakeholders, management, and team members informed about the status of tasks and workflows. Present reports on progress, problems, and solutions.

· Communicate with the PLD senior team to keep the project aligned with their goals.

 

Leadership

· Support and direct the team, lead risk management, and lead quality assurance.

· Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.

· Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks that could impact the project's desired outcomes.

Requirements

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

 

· 5–8 years of relevant experience.

· Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving those goals.

· Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Proven ability to work cooperatively with others.

· Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities simultaneously, stay focused on deadlines, and handle complex projects efficiently.

· Excellent communication skills and capable of maintaining strong relationships. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

· Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Accurate spelling, grammar and proofreading abilities.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Creativity and resourcefulness

· Familiarity with project management best practices

· Ability to delegate effectively

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

· Experience with project management in an educational and/ or nonprofit setting is preferred.

· Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

This position IS a fully remote position.

 

SALARY RANGE

 

$65-72K annually
