BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Patient Care Coordinator to join our state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital in Irvine, CA!

The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for coordinating departmental flow, ensuring efficient patient treatment while continuously assessing the needs of the patient and their family.

The Patient Care Coordinator:

Attendance required at staff meetings and technician department meetings.

Assist across services during primary service downtime or as directed by supervisor/manager.

Aids in the development of others to competently perform skills in prerequisite levels.

Remains current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor. (BLS)

Supports clinician and client throughout euthanasia process.

Approaches and handles patients according to safety protocols and core values. Compassionately, calmly, and gently approaches and handles patients.

Aids in setting and driving a culture of patient safety and utilizes the Patient Safety Event Reporting accordingly.

Appropriately restrain feline and canine patients in accordance with AVMA policies and procedures

Demonstrate proper use of hospital PPE; adhere to safety committee or hospital standards including Hazardous Drug Handling.

Assists with radiography using proper technique and PPE. Understands the concept of ALARA, and decreasing staff and patient exposure.

Assists with planning and coordination of daily service flow.

Orients and educates pet owners and their families providing educational information regarding treatments, procedures, medications, and continuing care requirements.

Acts as a liaison to clients, collaborating with the medical team, frequently keeping them informed. Connects clients with other associates to facilitate answers to questions.

Coordinates information and care requirements for the pet; resolving issues that could affect smooth care progression; fostering team support for the pets care and treatment.

Performs client call-backs.

Facilitates client visits and address questions, concerns, etc.

Provides rDVM updates on patients during hospital stay as directed

Documents conversations with specialists and clients in the medical record; interacting with other services to expedite scheduling, procedures, and consults.

Understands basic pharmacology of commonly-used oral medications, including handling, labelling and dispensing.

Maintains an advanced working knowledge of the pDVM portal.

Maintains an advanced working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures.

Maintains an advanced working knowledge of Instinct OP, IP, and Tx functions, including how to read and interpret.

Maintains the ability to complete, audit and review patient visit lists and invoices.

Understands and creates patient treatment plans (for their skill set and knowledge) and is able to present to clients in a clear manner.

Maintains a working knowledge of veterinary medical terms, abbreviations, procedures and conditions and is able to converse with other veterinary professionals and clients appropriately.

Pay: $23.00 - $41.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience, credentialing and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.
 

  • Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:
Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential

Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential

Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential
