Job Description:

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring timely submission of invoices, coordinating with providers and insurance companies, and collaborating effectively with our team. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance procedures, and healthcare laws and regulations regarding medical billing are essential for success in this position.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Accurately translate medical procedures, diagnoses, and equipment into standardized codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) to ensure compliant, optimized reimbursement.
  2. Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  3. Monitor claim status end-to-end, proactively investigating, resolving, and resubmitting denied or unpaid claims as needed.
  4. Maintain thorough, well-organized documentation that fully supports all claims and billing activities.
  5. Stay current with healthcare regulations and coding updates, ensuring full compliance with HIPAA and payer requirements while safeguarding patient confidentiality.


Qualifications:

Required

  1. Degree or certification in Medical Billing/Coding or a related field
  2. Demonstrated experience in medical billing or a similar role
  3. Strong skills using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software
  4. Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance procedures, and healthcare laws related to billing
  5. Exceptional accuracy in managing billing codes and claims to ensure maximum reimbursement and compliance
  6. Strong analytical skills to resolve billing discrepancies and issues efficiently
  7. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a remote work environment
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with providers, insurance companies, and patients
  9. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations at all times

Preferred

  1. Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools
  2. Prior experience in a remote work setting
  3. Familiarity with multiple EMR platforms
  4. Advanced knowledge of healthcare billing trends or revenue cycle management best practices


Work Environment:

  1. This role is fully remote within the state of California. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. Periodic travel is required, approximately quarterly, to attend team meetings, training sessions, and company events.


Compensation:

  1. Pay Range: The good faith pay range for this position is $50,000 to $65,000 annually. The specific pay within this range will be based on the candidate's qualifications, including experience, skills and geographic location.
