JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Software Engineer will drive the technical vision for modernizing our in‐house EMR system. You’ll architect and lead teams in migrating from legacy systems to a microservices/micro-frontend environment with AI integrations as a first-class citizen. You will collaborate closely with product and operations teams to ensure scalability, performance, and strict security/compliance (HIPAA) standards.

WHAT ARE YOUR ASSIGNMENTS

1. Define the overall architecture and technical strategy for migrating legacy PHP systems to Node.js/NestJS microservices and React micro frontend architecture.
2. Lead cross-functional teams, mentoring engineers on best practices in microservices design, container orchestration (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes), and AWS deployments.
3. Oversee implementation of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end), and observability (distributed tracing, logging, metrics).
4. Champion domain-driven design and data modeling strategies across multiple databases (relational and NoSQL).
5. Ensure robust security practices and compliance (e.g., data encryption, HIPAA, audit trails) throughout the stack.
6. Collaborate with data scientists and AI specialists to integrate machine learning capabilities into the EMR platform.
7. Act as the technical liaison for system-wide decisions, including container management, service registries (e.g., Eureka), and cross-team integration.

ATTRIBUTES NEEDED FOR THE ROLE

1. 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
2. Proven experience architecting microservices and micro frontend systems in AWS environments.
3. Strong background in Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScrip,t as well as React-based front-end development.
4. Hands-on expertise with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and service discovery/registries.
5. Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, distributed tracing, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger/OpenTelemetry).
6. Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka), and data modeling across multiple databases.
7. Prior exposure to healthcare software, EMR systems, and HIPAA compliance is a strong plus.
