Job Overview

The Human Resources Business Partner sits within NYSERDA’s HR Department but is charged with working with specific programmatic units and teams within NYSERDA to support their HR needs. The person’s activities include, but are not limited to, assisting the units and teams with their recruitment needs, onboarding and offboarding, personnel transactions, performance management, and staff compliance with NYSERDA’s policies and practices. The HR Business Partner provides guidance, supports necessary touchpoints and communications, and prepares required HR-related documents and materials to move HR processes for the units and teams along in a timely, thoughtful, and responsible way.

 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Implements and facilitates new hire onboarding and partners with departments to assist in the facilitation of orientations.
  • Support all phases of the internship program from initial request through onboarding and offboarding.
  • Help coordinate the overview and/or development of employee-enhancement programs by developing training content. Conducts HR-related training such as and not limited to EEO and Workplace Violence Prevention and employee relations. Tracks completion of annual mandatory training and follows up as necessary with staff to ensure compliance.
  • Support in the facilitation and coordination of employee performance management.
  • Assist and support Benefits onboarding, training, and tracking needs.
  • Assist and collaborate with HR team for the effective talent acquisition process.
  • Supports the handling of employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Work for the betterment of the workspace environment in collaboration with Facilities, including seating arrangement, accepting deliveries, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years’ experience in HR functions
  • The HR Business Partner should expect to travel to the Albany office to attend HR team meetings. Additional occasional travel may also be required.
