SAK Environmental LLC is hiring a Hazardous Building Materials Inspector to join our Compliance Team in North Andover, MA to support a wide variety of projects. SAK’s overall team provides a wide range of integrated services such as brownfields redevelopment, sustainability, environmental permitting, and operational compliance.

Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a talented environmental professional with 3-7 years experience that is looking to join us in our North Andover, Massachusetts office. This position requires travel to job sites within New England (MA, NH and ME) and working outside of the office setting approximately 50% of the time. Responsibilities will include conducting hazardous building materials surveys and abatement monitoring for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and mold, and indoor air quality testing and evaluations.

The position will entail field sampling, lifting and transporting up to 50lbs of field equipment unassisted, bending, walking on uneven ground, working on large construction/industrial sites, working in the elements (following our Health & Safety guidelines), such as snow, rain, heat, etc., and use of personal-protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hazardous building material inspections for asbestos, lead-based paint, and PCBs.
  • Perform indoor air quality inspections, water intrusion investigation and mold assessments.
  • Perform project oversight and coordination with contractors.
  • Operate and maintain instruments including air sampling pumps and microscopes.
  • Complete inspection forms, chain of custody forms, and prepare samples for delivery to laboratories.
  • Maintain daily logs of activities.
  • Coordinate with clients, colleagues, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Interpret project specifications and drawings.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Work with SAK’s multidisciplinary team.
  • Use Microsoft Office suite of software (i.e. Outlook, Teams, Excel, Work, Access).
  • Coordinate scheduling with contractors and subcontractors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 to 7 years’ experience in asbestos and other hazardous building material inspections, renovations, and abatement projects.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in environmental science or related field.
  • Certification/license for asbestos inspector and/or project monitor in Massachusetts or a New England State.
  • Prior experience in various aspects of abatement projects is a plus.
  • The ability to produce accurate and concise field notes.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to carry and climb ladders and being able to use hand and power tools.
  • Be able to wear a respirator, safety harness and other safety equipment as needed.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to travel to job sites and the office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40 HAZWOPER training
  • OSHA 10 Construction Safety training
