The E-Learning Course Designer & Web Editor is primarily responsible for the design, development, and implementation of e-learning educational courses delivered online to youth and families affected by child welfare. Educational and training services are offered by embrella to families and youth through various modalities such as direct in-person teaching and distance learning, which includes webinars, e-learning, and correspondence education.

This individual is required to modify and update current written courses for transmission to an e-learning format. This individual must use e-learning authoring tools and designs to develop engaging, interactive online training courses including scenarios, simulations, video, assessments, and gamification.

This individual is responsible for following standard operating procedures and work instructions to add, administer, and maintain LMS software. This individual must remain current on training industry trends and incorporate them into educational strategies as appropriate.

This individual is also responsible for creating and editing content for our website with our Marketing Designer, ensuring that it is engaging, informative, and optimized for search engines. They will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence and attracting a wider audience. They will be detail-oriented, have excellent writing and editing skills, and a strong understanding of SEO best practices.

They will ensure that all of their communications adhere to the Communications Editorial Mission Statement developed by the Director of Communications and the Communications Team. They are responsible for assisting with filming and photos for agency events as needed. Some evenings and weekends are required for events, video shoots, conferences, toy drive, etc.

The above-listed job duties are a brief description for this position. The E-Learning Course Designer & Web Editor may be required to perform other tasks deemed necessary by the Director of Communications and/or the Director of Family Support.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately)

  1. Bachelor’s degree in e-Learning Course design or similar field and/or 3 years’ proven design experience.
  2. Proficient in LMS software and e-learning techniques and technology including the creation and uploading of SCORM files. e.g. Articulate 360 and Appinium and it’s integration into Salesforce
  3. Ability to support LMS implementation and maintenance
  4. Must be sufficient in gamification and assessment
  5. Demonstrates a good understanding of graphic design as well as UI and UX design
  6. Ability to develop and maintain interactive activities and learning games for online courses
  7. Video filming experience
  8. Video editing experience, e.g. Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro
  9. Video post-production experience, e.g. Adobe AfterEffects
  10. Audio editing experience, e.g. Premiere Pro, Audacity
  11. Proficient in Content Management Systems, e.g., WordPress including the creation of child themes, usage of Gravity Forms plugin, and WPBakery Page Builder
  12. Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM.
  13. Knowledge of Responsive UI and web design trends
  14. Proficient in HTML and CSS
  15. Knowledgeable in search engine optimization
  16. Familiarity with Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics
  17. Proficient design skills and proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects) and Canva.
  18. Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and Teams.
  19. Highly organized and detail-oriented
  20. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  21. Able to work independently or in groups, if need be, with minimal supervision
  22. Has a proven ability to work with and meet tight deadlines
  23. Has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL DESIRED:

  1. Knowledge of adult and youth learning theories, principles, and concepts as well as measurement and evaluation methods
  2. Experience with nonprofits and/or experience with the NJ Child Protective Services system

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties that occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job)

  1. Transfers courses to e-learning format from basic Power Point slides created by staff.
  2. Administers e-learning courses on agency LMS which is Appinium with integration with

Salesforce.

  1. Identifies and recommends if changes and/or updates are needed to the current agency LMS.
  2. Enhances artistic look of courses while ensuring courses are informative, interactive, and visually appealing through software programs such as Adobe Edge Animate and Articulate 360.
  3. Manages software programs including digital photography and graphic design programs such as Adobe Suite.
  4. Assists and/or collaborates with Family Support and Communications Department staff members with creation of graphic design, audio, and video clips for course design and social media.
  5. Maintains a library of digital media that can be accessed by staff for course development.
  6. Ensures all digital media adheres to copyright laws.
  7. Establishes various tools to be used for the development, tracking, and maintenance of e-learning courses.
  8. Creates, edits, produces, and/or collaborates with the Digital Content Creator to create and edit videos and audio files for courses with such programs as Adobe Audition.
  9. Corresponds and collaborates with other agency departments regarding video development and implementation.
  10. Ability to trouble-shoot and rectify difficulties course users may encounter while participating in e-learning courses.
  11. Creates and maintains course authoring tool manuals.
  12. Research e-learning programs and software to enhance the development of courses and users access.
  13. Updates and redesigns websites as required and ensures all backend updates on

websites are completed in a timely manner.

  1. Generates traffic to embrella’s web properties through SEO and internal and external communications.
  2. Reviews Google Analytics stats and webmaster tools recommendations as well as performs keyword research. Optimize new and existing web pages for improved

search engine rankings.

  1. Prepares monthly digital media reports with social media information from the Marketing & Outreach Specialist.
  2. Attends monthly planning meetings with the Director of Communications and the Communications Department.
  3. Meets weekly with the Director of Communications to review assignments
  4. Assists with the organization and implementation of special events including but not limited to the Annual Recognition Brunch, Holiday Toy Drive, Fundraisers, etc.
  5. Acts as back up to the Marketing & Outreach Specialist, Marketing Designer, and Digital Content Creator as needed.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

This position is primarily sedentary (must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time) and located in an office or home environment; there will be lifting (minimum of 30 lbs.). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, converse and exchange information, in person, on the telephone and over the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about in the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. At times, this job may require the employee to work in the field or work evenings and weekends as needed.
