The Director of Sales will drive revenue growth and market share expansion through strategic leadership, with a critical focus on developing and empowering a high-performing team of Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and Inside Sales support. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role will be instrumental in optimizing contractual frameworks that maximize profitability and mitigate business risks, building strategic partnerships, and fostering a collaborative, results-oriented sales culture. The Director of Sales will play a key role in achieving Heliene's growth objectives while upholding the company's commitment to quality, sustainability, and American-made solar solutions. This role will require travel (Canada and US) up to 60%.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with Heliene's overall business objectives, including market penetration targets, product positioning, and pricing strategies.
  2. Identify and prioritize key target markets and customer segments, leveraging market research and competitive analysis.
  3. Establish clear sales goals, metrics, and KPIs for the sales team, and monitor performance regularly to ensure alignment with targets.
  4. Collaborate with Marketing and Product Development teams to ensure alignment between sales strategies and marketing campaigns, product roadmaps, and customer needs.
  5. Oversee the development and implementation of a new CRM, sales tools, resources, and training programs to enhance sales team effectiveness.
  6. Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement and growth, adjusting strategies as needed.
  7. Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to RSM, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  8. Set clear expectations for individual and team performance, holding team members accountable for achieving results.
  9. Identify and develop future sales leaders within the team through succession planning and development initiatives.
  10. Identify and develop strategic partnerships with key industry players, including distributors, installers, and developers.
  11. Represent Heliene at industry events and conferences, building relationships and promoting the company's brand and products.
  12. Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts, providing regular updates to senior management.
  13. Analyze sales data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  14. Utilize CRM and other sales tools to track and manage sales activities, pipeline, and customer interactions.


Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field is required, with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in sales management, including at least three (3) years specifically within the renewable energy industry, preferably solar or the equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

  1. Candidates must possess a proven track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams.
  2. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the solar PV market, encompassing industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.
  3. Familiarity with solar PV system design, installation, and operation.
  4. Exceptional communication, presentation, public speaking and interpersonal skills are essential.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Proficiency in CRM software and other sales tools is expected.
  8. Experience redlining, negotiating, and introducing new language within product supply contracts.
  9. Strong negotiation and closing skills, with a proven ability to secure favorable contracts and agreements.
  10. Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., MS Excel, Dynamics, Salesforce).
  11. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, operations, and finance.
  12. Familiarity with specific regional or state-level solar markets, including regulatory landscapes and incentive programs.
  13. The ability to travel up to 60% is required.
  14. Must have a valid passport and ability to travel throughout the US and Canada.
  15. Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation.
  16. Must complete a criminal background check prior to employment.


Salary Range: $110,000 to $150,000 Annually
