The Director of Communications is a key leadership role responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies that enhance the organization's visibility, engagement, and overall mission. This position requires a dynamic individual who can manage internal and external communications, oversee public relations efforts, and cultivate relationships with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in strategic planning, fundraising, and proposal writing to support the organization’s goals.
Duties
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans that align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Manage all aspects of public relations, including media outreach, press releases, and event coordination.
- Oversee the creation of engaging content for various platforms including newsletters, social media, and websites using tools such as Constant Contact and MailChimp.
- Collaborate with the fundraising team to create compelling proposals and grant applications to secure funding.
- Maintain databases of contacts and communications to streamline outreach efforts.
- Lead strategic planning sessions to identify communication goals and measure effectiveness.
- Provide training and support to staff on communication best practices and tools.
- Monitor industry trends and adapt strategies accordingly to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Proven experience in communications or public relations, preferably in a nonprofit or similar environment.
- Strong skills in budgeting for communication initiatives and managing related expenses.
- Proficiency in software applications relevant to communications, including Constant Contact, MailChimp, and database management systems.
- Experience with estate planning communications is a plus.
- Excellent writing skills with experience in grant writing and proposal development.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans that drive organizational success.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
