WHAT WE WANT (Position Overview)
The DevOps Manager leads and drives DevOps practices across the organization’s development teams through management of a dedicated contractor team. This role implements and maintains DevOps methodologies and tools that support both internal business systems and global customer-facing websites. The position combines technical leadership with contractor management to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation in our software delivery and operational practices.
WHAT YOU WILL DO (Primary Responsibilities)
Team and Process Management
The DevOps Manager provides strategic direction and oversight of DevOps initiatives through:
- Managing a team of DevOps contractors responsible for implementing and maintaining DevOps practices
- Coordinating with internal development teams to implement DevOps methodologies and tools
- Establishing performance metrics and conducting regular evaluations of contractor deliverables
- Creating and maintaining documentation and knowledge sharing processes
- Leading incident post-mortems and driving continuous process improvements across teams
DevOps Operations Management
Oversee critical DevOps operations, including:
- Leading CI/CD pipeline development and optimization for development teams
- Managing container orchestration and Kubernetes operations at scale
- Implementing and maintaining infrastructure as code practices
- Evaluating, recommending, and implementing build and deployment tools
- Developing strategies for optimal use of development tools and platforms
- Implementing observability solutions and monitoring frameworks
- Maintaining configuration management and deployment strategies
- Developing and maintaining robust testing frameworks
Strategic Planning and Innovation
Drive DevOps advancement and operational efficiency through:
- Developing and executing DevOps roadmaps aligned with business objectives
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies to enhance delivery capabilities
- Establishing and maintaining SLAs, OLAs, and KPIs for deployment and operational performance
- Creating and maintaining reliable deployment and rollback procedures
- Optimizing development and operational workflows for efficiency and quality
- Collaborating with development teams to identify and implement process improvements
Security and Compliance
Ensure robust security measures and compliance standards by:
- Implementing and maintaining secure CI/CD practices across development teams
- Overseeing security scanning and testing integration
- Managing security incident response procedures
- Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards
- Conducting regular security audits and assessments
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE (Qualifications)
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 7+ years of DevOps or software engineering experience
- 3+ years of technical team management experience
- Demonstrated expertise in CI/CD and automation practices
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of DevOps practices and methodologies
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code and automation
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms
- Background in build and deployment tooling evaluation and implementation
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Leadership Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Project management experience
- Proven track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple teams
- Experience managing incident response and escalations
- Ability to influence and drive adoption of DevOps practices across development teams
Working Conditions
- Full-time position
- Remote work position with occasional travel required
- Participation in on-call rotation and emergency response required
- Evening and weekend work may be necessary for system maintenance and incident response
