The Default Analyst is responsible for the accurate reporting and data validation required for compliance with GSEs, VA, FHA, and mortgage insurance companies. This role focuses on analyzing, preparing, and submitting default-related reports, including data validation, correction, and quality assurance to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. Additionally, the Default Analyst may support property preservation and bankruptcy (BK) analysis functions, contributing to efficient workflows and process improvements. This position requires strong data analysis skills, familiarity with mortgage industry standards, and a detail-oriented approach to maintaining data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties:
Default Reporting:
- Prepare and submit accurate, timely reports for Default Reporting to GSEs, VA, FHA, Mortgage Insurance companies, and other relevant entities.
- Ensure compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines, maintaining a high standard of accuracy across all reporting functions.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly reporting requirements, adjusting processes as necessary to meet deadlines and data integrity standards.
Data Validation, Correction, and Entry:
- Perform data validation, cleansing, and, when required, manual data correction or data entry to ensure complete accuracy in all default reporting activities.
- Identify and rectify data discrepancies, coordinating with other departments to resolve inconsistencies.
- Conduct regular quality assurance checks to maintain reliable data and reporting standards.
Property Preservation and Bankruptcy (BK) Analysis Support:
- Assist with data analysis and reporting related to property preservation and bankruptcy cases, ensuring data is current and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to support workflow processes related to property preservation and bankruptcy.
Data Querying and Analysis:
- Utilize data querying tools to extract, analyze, and interpret data relevant to default and loss mitigation reporting.
- Develop and maintain reports that provide insights into default trends, portfolio performance, and compliance status.
Process Improvement and Documentation:
- Identify areas for improvement in reporting processes, proposing and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
- Develop and update “How To” guides, procedures, and job aids to support team knowledge and maintain consistency in reporting practices.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work with other departments to facilitate timely responses to audit requests and ensure smooth data flows across systems.
- Provide support for system-related updates, participating in testing and validation processes as needed.
Compliance and Training:
- Complete all compliance training within required timelines, staying current with regulatory requirements for default reporting.
- Adhere to all company and regulatory guidelines, maintaining a high level of awareness and accountability for data quality.
Ad Hoc Reporting and Administrative Support:
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as requested to support departmental and company-wide initiatives.
- Complete additional administrative tasks and other duties as assigned, including manual data entry or correction as necessary to ensure data integrity.
Education and Experience
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, data analytics, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage servicing, default reporting, or data analysis within the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and investor guidelines related to GSEs, VA, FHA, and mortgage insurance companies preferred.
- Experience with data querying, validation, and manual data correction or data entry in a high-compliance environment.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and validate data accurately, ensuring integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in data querying tools, such as SQL, and experience with data analysis and visualization software.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating complex information into clear, concise reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with mortgage servicing software is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments, demonstrating initiative and flexibility in supporting team goals and process improvements.
