Job Industry: Media Production
Job Type: Full time
WorkPlace Type: On-Site
Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
Required Candidates: 1 Candidates
Job Description:

At Moore, we consider a Creative Manager a position with hybrid skills: part creative doer (whether copywriter, designer, videographer, or strategy) and part creative facilitator of communications (emails, tasks, meetings, finding VO, working with teams), process (identifying a problem through providing a finished solution), and vision (helping ensure an initially formed idea is thoughtfully and consistently executed and delivered).

A Creative Manager always has a Creative Lead. A Creative Manager also always has a full creative team of copywriters, designers, videographers, and strategists they will work with to help execute the many tasks involved in the creative process — which largely will be creating video projects for nonprofit clients to include PSAs, CTV spots, and DRTV programs.

Creative Managers influence conversations and decisions, have relationships directly with all involved, sit with editors, make creative decisions in concert with their creative lead — all while being part of actually making the creative itself.

Your Place on the Team:

  • Creative Team: The Creative Manager role has an emphasis on owning and facilitating the entire creative process. Your role within the creative team focuses on internal communications, research, strategy, and influence. In pre-production, you’ll research stories, review footage, and work with the creative team to conceive ideas and write scripts; in client service, you’ll help prepare pitches, communicate expectations to internal teams and external teams when needed; and in post-production, you’ll help facilitate edits and bring the final pieces together with the creative lead.
  • Project Managers & Coordinators: We have dedicated Project Managers and Coordinators who help manage the logistical portions of a project and client relationship, and who guide the deliverables and timelines (respectively). You will be asked to help review timelines, budgets, and lead on any adjustments needed based on client feedback.
  • Post-Production: You’ll work very closely with a post-production team that handles the assembly of video timelines, animation, graphics, coloring, audio mixing, and mastering. This team ensures your vision comes to life and meets the expectations we’ve set for our clients, so it’s important you spend time with them at various stages of every client project.

Duties/Responsibilities:

All creatives are ideators, content creators, and hands-on, but as a Creative Manager, your emphasis is on communicating; this means you’re expected to be a generator of concepts and ideas, a creative thinker capable of organizing and connecting thoughts that persuade audiences to take action, a communicator of those ideas and thoughts across numerous parties via meetings, presentations, Zooms, emails, and project management tools; and a collaborator on work with the other creatives on scripts, mood boards, storyboards, and pitch decks. Your ideas are valuable and expected throughout, but it’s your ability to own the process and facilitate communications across teams that sets you apart.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Work with Creative Leads to capture their vision and help bring it to life.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with other members of the team, especially editors during post-production, to give feedback and guidance on execution.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing your concepts and ideas to clients, when requested or required
  • Collaborating on scripts (using words to describe a visual aesthetic, scene, or emotion)
  • Creating mood boards (finding and assembling visual inspiration from existing works)
  • Creating storyboards (designing and/or illustrating key frames, moments, and visual direction to aid in direction of a spot)
  • Creating pitch decks and presentations (in PowerPoint, InDesign, or Illustrator — even if you have a preference, collaboration often means you’ll have to live in someone else’s desired environment)
  • Collaborating on and sometimes owning production timelines and client budgets.

Tools Utilized:

We’ll teach you the ins and outs of our specific processes and tools, but generally speaking, you should know the following tools (or comparable applications):

  • Proficient: Adobe Workfront or comparable project management systems (Asana, etc.); Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; and Dropbox.
  • Familiar: Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Premiere, Photoshop, etc.)

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years or more in creative or account service management roles, ideally with previous writing, marketing, PR, and client service experience (e.g. copywriter, account executive, marketing coordinator, media relations, public speaking) at an agency or crew where video production was a core service offering
  • Previous experience working in creative for nonprofit clients, ideally with an emphasis on action-driven works (e.g. advocacy or fundraising, as opposed to brand awareness or product promotion).
  • Preferred: Experience working on Direct Response TV (long-form and/or short-form), Linear TV, and/or Connected TV platforms

Note on Education: Though a college degree is often valuable, if your real-world portfolio demonstrates proficiency and expertise in the required skills, and your hands-on experience meets or exceeds the requirements listed, a college degree is not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • The position does not require the person to frequently move about an office, set, or location.
  • The position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to clients, producers, executive leadership, and teammates. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
  • This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment, and mobile devices, to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
  • This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned, or to make general observations.
  • This position’s essential functions are performed primarily indoors.
  • This position will require some travel (likely 15% or so) by vehicle, airplane, or both.

Special Instructions to Applicant:

Please include a link (website, PDF, or folder link [e.g. Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive]) to samples of your work. If you worked on these pieces with a team, please clearly indicate which parts of the project you specifically created or oversaw, so we get a sense of your specific decision-making and creative output.
