Rogers Group is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Construction Accountant based in Cookeville, TN. As a Construction Accountant, you will be an integral part of our Construction team, supporting the accounting functions for our construction line of business at our Cookeville location. We are looking for a detail-oriented and critical thinker with strong customer service skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious and possess excellent multitasking abilities to manage various accounting and administrative tasks. The ability to work with multiple types of personnel will be critical to success for this position. This position offers opportunities to handle WIP management, job setup, billing oversight, reporting, general accounting, and administrative support. Long-term we also envision this employee monitoring job costs, forecasting projects, and managing their own administrative team.
Responsibilities:
- Setup and closeout projects
- Review and process subcontractor and project material costs
- Bill projects accurately and timely
- Review project time cards, cost reports, and quantities
- Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
- Address project related issues as needed with construction management team
- Create and update project forecasts as needed.
- Correspond with TDOT offices related to State jobs.
- Assist Area Controller with month-end close
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Other degrees or relevant experience will be considered. CPA a plus.
- 3+ years of accounting or finance experience. CPA firm or construction industry a plus.
- Strong proficiency and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel, and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications.
- Experience working with an ERP system, Oracle experience a plus.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Highly detail oriented and organized.
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives.
