The Communications Department features two full-time employees that work together to showcase our business in a fun, professional, and energetic manner. The department is divided into one staff member predominantly handling the professional tournaments and PGA of America Member side of the business with the other focused on Junior Golf and Foundation activities.
We are currently seeking a Communication Coordinator to be mainly focused on the STPGA Junior Golf program and Foundation activities. This individual will also be responsible for the training and management of seasonal communication interns to help deliver our content!
JOB OVERVIEW!
This Communication Coordinator will work in concert with our existing Communications Coordinator to tell the story of the Southern Texas PGA and PGA REACH Southern Texas. We are nothing without the ability to communicate with our customers and members and market our programs to our consumers, and we are looking for this position to continue our growth and make their own mark on our channels!
This job requires an individual to be detail oriented, creative, and energetic. An ideal candidate is great at making content calendars, communicating with co-workers, coming up with new ideas, and driving exposure for the STPGA. The STPGA provides a great environment that supports our staff, provides the necessary resources to be successful, and freedom to be creative.
This position would be a balance between being on-site at events and in the office to ensure we hit our goals and objectives regarding websites, graphic work, newsletters, videos, content calendars, and other like items. Training and providing clear direction for seasonal interns is key to the success of this position.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The STPGA is looking for a candidate who brings with them a proactive and forward-thinking mindset, is extremely detail oriented, and has a passion for marketing and communications with a desire to elevate their career. In addition, we are looking for someone who has a service mindset with a passion for growing the game of golf and highlighting our many amazing juniors and programs!
This position requires a bachelor's degree and someone with experience in communications. Successful applicants will have experience making graphics, editing and capturing videos, planning out social media calendars, creating engaging content, and writing newsletters/press releases.
PGA of America Members and Associates are welcome to apply but not required.
Having experience or knowledge of golf is preferred but not required.

WHAT DOES THIS POSITION LOOK LIKE?
Website
This position will be responsible for the maintenance and updating of stpgajuniorgolf.com including but not limited to ensuring that text stays accurate throughout the year as programs are conducted, graphics remain fresh and updated, and our news sections are up to date, and all interfaces with devices are seamless.
Social Media
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for posting and creating all items for all social media channels for the STPGA Junior Golf Program (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube) and tracking weekly and monthly impressions. They will also be responsible for creating monthly content calendars that integrate all our programs and strategies. This person will manage our various campaigns and video series that showcase our programs and junior golfers.
Mass Communication
The STPGA Junior Golf Weekly Headlines are sent at 4:00 p.m. each Tuesday and is one of the strongest marketing arms of our program with over 10,000 subscribers. This position will be responsible for coordinating with the departments on content needs, writing the various blurbs, and formatting images to coincide. Press Releases to local media regarding important event information, sponsorship announcements, and promotions will also be written and distributed.
Video
Video is critical to the success of our program, and this position will be responsible for capturing, editing, and creating videos for all our platforms with the assistance of communications interns. PT Pastime’s and Tee It Up’s are our main recurring series, but video will expand well beyond this as we highlight various programs, tournaments, and fun offerings.
Content vs Promotion
Work in concert with the Junior Golf and Prestige Tour Departments to create monthly calendars and plans on promotion versus content plans as well as best ways to market events and the overall program.
Staffing
This position would train and manage the Communications Interns each season. This includes the creation and upkeep of an intern manual, hands-on training in photo, graphics, video, and social, assisting with their schedule to ensure coverage of all pertinent events, and follow-up on areas of improvement.
Collaboration and Communication
This position will work directly with Department Heads that manage and run the events we put on throughout the year. This individual will need to understand our different programs and work with our operations team to ensure events are being showcased correctly and telling the full story of our junior golf program.
Miscellaneous
The position will also assist with partnership proposal creation, player graphics, management and upkeep of communications equipment, database and distribution list management, assistance with the Education Summit & Annual Meeting and Awards Videos for our PGA of America Members, management of media contacts and relationships, and departmental collaboration to drive exposure of all programs.
CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES & EXPERIENCE
This candidate should display a strong moral character and unquestionable integrity. He or she should show professionalism in all forms, excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills, and a detail orientated mindset!
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required, should be well versed in marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Digital Range, etc., possess skills in photography, video, and editing and the associated platforms of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom.
This individual would need to have the ability to work weekends, be able to work independently, be flexible to last minute changes, and have a strong handle on working independently on multiple tasks at a time.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFIT PACKAGE
Our total package for this individual will range between $40,000 and $50,000 based on experience and other factors. At the STPGA, some of our high-level benefits include items like Unlimited PTO, 100% coverage of medical, dental, and long-term disability after 3 months of employment, and a 401K plan after one year of employment with up to 5% matching contribution from the STPGA. In addition to our PTO policy, the STPGA office is closed between the Christmas and New Years Holiday each year.
STPGA Staff Members also have free access at Willow Creek Golf Club and Windrose Golf Club to enjoy the great game of golf. We provide a cell phone and computer to all employees and plenty of golf shirts to last for a lifetime!
When traveling for work, the STPGA provides work trucks for your travels and a company credit card for work-related expenses.
