Founded in 2008, Nexverde manages assets valued in excess of R2.8 billion and employs a team of over 180 professionals across acquisitions, development, property management, finance, and corporate services. We are entering a deliberate growth phase, having recently secured institutional backing to expand our development pipeline and explore cross-border investment opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa. We are now looking for a Chief Financial Officer who can match the pace of our ambition with the discipline of world-class financial leadership.
POSITION SUMMARY
Nexverde Property Group is seeking an experienced and commercially grounded Chief Financial Officer to lead the full finance function and serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors. This is an executive leadership role with enterprise-wide accountability for financial planning and analysis, treasury and capital management, statutory reporting, tax compliance, governance, and investor relations.
The successful candidate will bring a CA(SA) qualification, a track record of leading complex group finance structures, and the executive presence to represent the finance function credibly at board level and with external stakeholders including lenders, auditors, and institutional investors. This person combines deep technical expertise in IFRS and South African tax and company law with the commercial instinct and communication skills to translate financial insight into strategic decisions that drive organizational value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership and Strategic Partnership
Serve as the primary financial advisor to the CEO, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors on all matters relating to financial performance, capital allocation, risk, and strategic investment decisions. Lead the development of the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial plans in partnership with executive leadership and business unit heads. Provide clear, accurate, and commercially relevant financial analysis that supports major business decisions including acquisitions, disposals, development funding, and capital structure optimization. Represent the finance function at Board and sub-committee level, including Audit and Risk Committee, presenting financial results, treasury positions, and strategic financial recommendations with confidence and clarity.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
Oversee the preparation and integrity of consolidated group financial statements in full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Manage the external audit process, maintaining strong working relationships with audit partners and ensuring timely and clean audit outcomes. Ensure full compliance with South African tax legislation, Companies Act requirements, and any applicable international reporting obligations for London-listed or cross-border entities. Drive continuous improvement in the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across all group entities.
Treasury, Capital Management, and Investor Relations
Manage group treasury operations including cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, debt facilities, and hedging strategies appropriate to the property investment environment. Lead engagement with debt providers, equity investors, and institutional stakeholders on financial performance, covenant compliance, and capital raise processes. Oversee group-level insurance, risk financing, and asset protection strategies in partnership with operations and legal. Support the CEO in investor communications, information memoranda, and due diligence processes related to new funding rounds or strategic partnerships.
Finance Team Leadership and Organizational Development
Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing finance team across financial reporting, management accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and tax functions. Establish clear performance expectations, development plans, and succession pathways within the finance team. Drive a culture of accuracy, accountability, and commercial awareness throughout the finance function and broader organization. Partner with HR on organizational design, remuneration benchmarking, and finance capability building as the business scales.
Governance, Risk, and Internal Controls
Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment that protects group assets and ensures the integrity of financial information across all entities. Lead the identification, assessment, and management of key financial and operational risks, reporting regularly to the Audit and Risk Committee. Ensure all finance policies, procedures, and authorities are documented, current, and consistently applied across the group. Oversee the relationship with external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and other professional service providers.
COMPENSATION
Monthly Base Salary: R95,000 to R130,000 per month (approximately R1,140,000 to R1,560,000 per annum), commensurate with CA(SA) qualification, depth of group finance experience, and seniority of prior leadership roles
