We currently have an opening for a full time Buyer. This essential duties for this position:

• Investigates prospective vendors for purchased parts and materials seeking best terms, delivery and pricing.
• Works with existing vendors to improve their performance.
• Negotiates pricing, terms, and delivery when necessary, particularly with sole source vendors.
• Issues orders for inventory items per parameters recommended by Made To Manage information system.
• Issues orders for non-inventory items (ie: cleaning supplies, small tools, etc) within established guidelines.
• Develops methods to reduce inventory while still supporting production needs.
• Reviews outstanding purchase orders and attempts to expedite any orders that are overdue.
• Reviews shipping documents for deviation in routing, inspection, and quantity received and records receipts on purchasing records.
• Contacts vendors on any discrepancies found in quality or quantity of parts and materials received for correction and/or resolution.
• Periodic travel required to vendors.
• Consults with Research & Development and when directed, obtains samples of new materials or parts to verify acceptability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree preferred
• 3-5 Years experience in related position
• Competent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; able to multi-task
• Knowledge of general processes and procedures of sourcing and purchasing goods
• Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
• Team player
• Ability to adapt and be flexible in a changing environment
