Job Description:

Under the direction of the Assistant AD / Marketing, this position will execute marketing and communications campaigns focused on students, faculty/staff, and community audiences, resulting in increased Revenue Generation / Ticket Sales, Fan Experience, Innovation / Creativity, Student-Athlete Experience, Community Outreach, and Attendance. This position will work with full-time staff, part-time staff, and part-time student employees to ensure the UVU Athletics fan experience remains at the forefront of the athletic marketing landscape. This position will execute plans to drive attendance to athletic events while providing event support, such as tailgates, setup & takedown, in-game contests and promotions, game operations, etc. This position will work with various campus and community stakeholders to ensure campaigns are successful.

Summary of Responsibilities

 

  • Execute strategic and innovative marketing and communications campaigns focused on campus (students and faculty/staff) and community audiences, resulting in increased Revenue Generation / Ticket Sales, Fan Experience, Innovation / Creativity, Student-Athlete Experience, Community Outreach, and Attendance
  • Provide leadership to part-time students and interns to ensure marketing and communications campaigns and ensure game day / event marketing responsibilities are executed
  • Execute game day / event marketing responsibilities, including pre-game, in-game, and post-game activities, and setup / takedown
  • Foster collaborative relationships with campus and community stakeholders, including, but not limited to PACE, Faculty Senate, Alumni & Development, UVUSA, Clubs and Organizations, UVU Ambassadors, RCL Program, Orientation Leaders, First Year Experience, Prospective Student Services, Student Housing (Axis, The Green, Wolverine Crossing, etc.), Youth Sports (Jr. Jazz, Bantam Basketball, Utah Youth Soccer, middle school, junior high, high school, etc.), Elementary Schools (elementary school days, elementary school ticketing, mascot visits, student-athlete visits, etc.), etc., focusing on Revenue Generation / Ticket Sales, Fan Experience, Innovation / Creativity, Community Outreach, and Attendance
  • Execute market research to gain insight on various areas including brand awareness, campaign effectiveness, competitive analysis, consumer insights, customer satisfaction, customer segmentation, product development, and more
  • Continuously assess marketing strategies and apply industry practices for Revenue Generation / Ticket Sales, Fan Experience, Innovation / Creativity, Student-Athlete Experience, Community Outreach, and Attendance
  • Create executive reports that outline campaign and program objectives, audiences, targets, and tactics, including end-of-campaign and end-of-year actuals against targets
  • Perform other marketing-related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or GED plus six months to one year of related experience is required.
  • Two or more years of work experience in event planning, marketing, public relations, or another related field.
  • Must attend Mandatory Staff Meetings on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 9:50 am.
  • Office hours will be scheduled during regular business hours (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and decided on between the applicant and supervisor.
  • Works on weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible shifts.
  • Works indoors and outdoors (hot and cold temperatures, wind, rain, snow, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field; OR any combination of education and experience totaling 4 year(s).

 

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of UVU Policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of the regulations governing intercollegiate athletics as set forth by the NCAA, the WAC, and the BIG 12 Conference.

  • Knowledge of marketing and communications strategies, focusing on Revenue Generation / Ticket Sales, Fan Experience, Social Media / Broadcasting, Brand Awareness, Innovation / Creativity, Student-Athlete Experience, Community Outreach, and Attendance.

  • Skills in developing marketing and communications campaigns focused on Revenue Generation/Ticket Sales, Fan Experience, Social Media/Broadcasting, Brand Awareness, Innovation/Creativity, Student-Athlete Experience, Community Outreach, and Attendance.
  • Skills in developing digital and social media campaigns focused on Revenue Generation/Ticket Sales, Fan Experience, Social Media/Broadcasting, Brand Awareness, Innovation/Creativity, Student-Athlete Experience, Community Outreach, and Attendance.
  • Good interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy are required to foster collaborative relationships with campus and community stakeholders and to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and email.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to uphold and abide by all NCAA, WAC, and BIG 12 Conference regulations and UVU Institutional policies and procedures.
  • Ability to oversee conception, production, and implementation of assets used in association with strategic and innovative marketing and communication campaigns.
  • Ability to consistently evaluate efforts to become more efficient.
  • Ability to create client and executive reports outlining objectives, including end-of-campaign and end-of-year actuals against targets.
  • Ability to run/learn to run in-game operation equipment, including audio, lighting, video board, etc.
  • Ability to set up / take down game day/event equipment, including tents, tables, flags, banners, coolers, promotions, contests, etc.
  • Ability to manage a team of student employees, including assigning tasks, delegating, managing, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
