The Role

We're looking for experienced academic researchers to create high-quality training data for AI models learning to perform real academic work. You'll design and execute complex, multi-step tasks — the same kind of work you do every day as a researcher, instructor, or scholar — and demonstrate how an expert navigates the tools, decisions, and workflows involved across real academic tools and platforms. These are long, detailed demonstrations.

What You'll Work On

Tasks span the full range of academic work. You’re not expected to necessarily work on each of those areas, but should master at least one. Here’s some of the core areas we’re focusing on:

1. Teaching & Course Design: Building syllabi, creating assignments, setting up course materials in learning management systems, designing rubrics, preparing lecture content
2. Course Assignments: Developing problem sets, lab instructions, reading lists, and assessment materials across disciplines
3. Literature Review: Searching databases, evaluating sources, synthesizing findings, managing citations, identifying gaps in existing research
4. Manuscript Editing: Revising drafts for clarity, structure, and argumentation; formatting for journal submission; responding to reviewer feedback
5. Scholarly Activities: Preparing conference submissions, writing abstracts, organizing peer review, drafting grant proposals
6. Profile Management: Maintaining academic profiles (ORCID, Google Scholar, ResearchGate), updating CVs, managing publication records

Who We're Looking For

1. Currently or recently in academia: PhD students, postdocs, adjunct faculty, lecturers, research staff, scientific writer, academic editor, etc., with hands-on experience across multiple areas listed above
2. Tool fluency: You regularly use tools like Google Scholar, PubMed, arXiv, Semantic Scholar, Zotero/Mendeley, Overleaf/LaTeX, Canvas/Blackboard, institutional repositories, and similar platforms
3. Detail-oriented and methodical: You can break down complex research workflows into clear, logical steps and articulate your reasoning at each stage
4. Strong written communication: You can explain what you're doing and why as you work through a task

All disciplines welcome. We especially value researchers who work across multiple areas of academic life (e.g., someone who both teaches and publishes actively).

Interview Process

We keep it fast and respectful of your time (~75 minutes total):

1. Submit application form (1 minute)
2. Short interview with our AI recruiter (15 minutes)
3. Take-home assessment (45 minutes)
4. Final interview with founder (30 minutes)

Typical process takes 2 weeks from application to offer.
