WordPress Engineer (Enterprise Engineering)

Location: Fully Remote - US Only

Pay Rate: $70 - $75/hr (W2)

Duration: 12-month contract possible extension/conversion

Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Web Developer to support large-scale WordPress marketing and informational web properties. This role will focus on building new functionality, maintaining enterprise WordPress applications, optimizing site performance, and implementing secure development practices while leveraging AI-assisted engineering workflows.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in custom WordPress development, PHP, JavaScript, WordPress VIP, Gutenberg block development, and enterprise-scale website operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain enterprise WordPress applications using PHP and JavaScript
2. Build custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch, including bug fixes and updates.
3. Design and implement Gutenberg custom blocks and reusable components
4. Support WordPress multisite environments and scalable content architectures
5. Optimize Core Web Vitals, page speed, caching, and site reliability
6. Troubleshoot production issues and deploy safe, incremental releases
7. Implement secure coding practices and dependency management
8. Collaborate with Marketing, Design, Product, and Engineering stakeholders
9. Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and deployment activities
10. Implement an AI-first development workflow using modern toolsets such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, DevMate, and Codex to accelerate delivery
11. Support technical maintenance and enhancement initiatives across web ecosystem
