Position Title: WordPress Developer

Job Type: 3-Month Contract to Hire

Location: Remote - Must sit within the following states: TN, GA, AL, FL, NC, SC, NV, NH, TX, MN, VA, IL

Compensation: $45-$50/Hour


Job Overview:

Our client is looking for a remote WordPress Developer who can build modern, high‑performance websites and web applications. This person will focus on creating responsive, accessible, and engaging user interfaces while collaborating with designers and developers in a fast‑moving environment. The role includes custom WordPress development, performance optimization, and implementing clean, scalable code.

Day-to-Day:

• Develop engaging user interfaces for web applications and websites

• Translate UI and UX design files into responsive, interactive digital experiences

• Build reusable and scalable front‑end components and code

• Optimize performance, speed, and accessibility across browsers and devices

• Architect and develop custom WordPress themes and plugins

• Use Pantheon for hosting and development lifecycle workflows

• Collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality digital solutions

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Over 5 years of experience building WordPress themes and plugins

• Proficient with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and Node.js

• Experience with MySQL and REST APIs

• Skilled with CSS preprocessing such as SASS and frameworks like Tailwind, BEM, or Bootstrap

• Experience using front‑end frameworks like Vue.js, React, or jQuery

• Familiarity with SSH keys, CLI tools, FTP/SFTP, and Git‑based deployments

• Knowledge of cross‑browser compatibility and SEO / SEM best practices

• Basic image editing skills using Photoshop, GIMP, or similar

Nice to Have:

• Experience with AMP

• Familiarity with Google Cloud

• Knowledge of Web Accessibility (WCAG) standards

• Experience building WordPress blocks and patterns
