At a glance:

The YMCA of the North - one of the largest and most dynamic nonprofit organizations in the region - is seeking a dedicated Website Coordinator to join our digital team. In-Person Attendance Requirement:

Candidates must be located within reasonable commuting distance and able to adjust their schedule as needed to support regular, often daily, in-person collaboration.


The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $60,000. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.



1. Job Summary:

The Website Coordinator supports the YMCA’s digital presence by ensuring the website is accurate, functional, secure, and engaging for members and community audiences. This role is part of the Digital Team and will collaborate with vendors, program managers, marketing, IT, security, and design teams to maintain the Drupal-based website. The coordinator will balance day-to-day content updates, performance monitoring, vendor coordination, and user experience improvements.

This is an entry-level opportunity for someone eager to grow in digital operations, project management, and nonprofit technology.



2. Essential Functions:

Technical & Vendor Coordination

  1. Serve as the first point of contact for website issues; document and coordinate resolution with teams and stakeholders.
  2. Monitor site uptime, speed, and security alerts; escalate issues to IT/Security and other teams as required.
  3. Lead technical ticket management for vendors and ensure alignment with priorities. .
  4. Maintain thorough documentation of web processes, issues, and vendor communications.
  5. Be curious about the Digital Y Ecosystem, and opportunities for technology improvements.

Analytics & Reporting

  1. Run and share basic reports using Google Analytics and other tools.
  2. Track traffic, engagement, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  3. Support leadership by documenting growth opportunities in analytics and SEO.

Project & Collaboration Support

  1. Participate in cross-functional meetings to support campaigns, digital initiatives, and new features.
  2. Assist leadership during website redesigns, migrations, and enhancements.
  3. Provide administrative and coordination support for vendor deliverables and internal project tracking.

Content & User Experience

  1. Coordinate posting and updating website content, including program pages, news and events; as needed
  2. Maintain site structure, navigation, and formatting for clarity and ease of use.
  3. Monitor accessibility standards (WCAG) and escalate issues when needed.
  4. Ensure YMCA branding and style guidelines are reflected in web content.

Relationship Management:

  1. Support leadership by documenting issues and assisting in recommending solutions to remove roadblocks.
  2. Help identify improvements to existing digital processes and share ideas with the digital team for consideration.
  3. Participate in technical discovery calls and status meetings with vendors and internal partners; take notes and ensure follow-up items are tracked.
  4. Coordinate with IT and vendors to ensure technical needs are communicated and supported for digital project delivery.
  5. Assist with launch checklists, documentation, and post-launch notes to contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery.
  6. Contribute to a positive team culture and collaborative environment across internal teams and vendor partners.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, design, IT, customer service) to support digital initiatives that enhance engagement and brand presence.
  8. Help maintain adherence to established protocols by updating documentation and tracking processes.
  9. Foster collaboration between digital staff and other departments by supporting communication and project coordination.
  10. Be curious about the programs and teams we support at the Y.



3. Relationships:

The Website Coordinator reports to the Associate Vice President of Digital Programs and Platforms who reports to the Executive Vice President of Technology. The Website Coordinator provides work directions to agency partners and associated staff relevant to the execution of the YMCA of the North digital roadmap. Key audiences include leadership, staff, volunteers, board members, members, donors, program and camp participants, strategic partners, foundations, Y associations, and corporations.



4. Qualifications:

Required

  1. Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience through internships, coursework, or professional roles).
  2. 1–2 years of experience in website coordination, content management, or digital support (internship or professional).
  3. Familiarity with a CMS, ideally Drupal (experience with WordPress or other CMS acceptable, with willingness to learn Drupal).
  4. Basic understanding of HTML and CSS, with a willingness to learn more technical skills as needed.
  5. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to troubleshoot common website issues.
  6. Good conceptual thinking and basic analytical skills to review data and recommend improvements.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment, while managing multiple priorities.
  9. Comfort documenting processes, tracking issues, and coordinating with vendors.
  10. Interest in developing project management and digital operations skills.

Preferred (Growth Opportunities)


These skills are not required at entry, but candidates will have the opportunity to learn and grow into them:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, communications, or a related field.
  2. Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Tag Manager).
  3. Exposure to accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA) and SEO best practices.
  4. Experience with project management tools (Atlassian, Asana, Jira, Trello, etc.).
  5. Familiarity with APIs, hosting environments (AWS, Digital Ocean), or version control (GitHub).
  6. Experience collaborating with external vendors or contractors.
  7. Interest in nonprofit digital strategy or mission-driven web work.



5. Work Conditions:

  1. Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods.
  2. Must be located in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
  3. Must be able to travel locally for meetings.
  4. Ability to travel to YMCA branches, camps or other locations.
  5. Ability to respond to emergency situations after normal business hours.
  6. Ability to flex work schedule for deployment windows outside of normal business hours.
