Sharp Innovations, Inc. of Lancaster, PA is seeking a full-time, experienced Web Programmer & Developer to create custom functionality for our customers’ websites due to our dynamic growth in recent years. The ideal candidate will be comfortable doing object-oriented programming (OOP) in PHP, with MySQL database integration, and will have experience working in the MVC architecture. They should also be comfortable programming in other languages as needed. The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-driven developer with deep knowledge of modern web technologies, strong problem-solving abilities, and a passion for clean, scalable code. While this role will initially be focused on hands-on development within a collaborative team environment, there is potential for future leadership responsibilities, including mentoring team members and overseeing development initiatives as the team grows.

We are looking for a highly experienced developer with 10–15+ years of hands-on development expertise to join our custom web development agency. This person should bring a managerial mindset and a genuine interest in stepping into a leadership position—someone who enjoys guiding others, shaping processes, and contributing to company-level decisions. The ideal candidate is not only capable of leading and mentoring a development team but is excited about doing so, with a collaborative, supportive approach to team growth. Additionally, this role includes involvement in production scheduling and workload planning to help ensure smooth delivery and efficient team operations as we continue to expand. The right fit for this position could also be someone who has long-term interest in the company and would be potentially considered for partnership opportunities for the right fit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities may include:

1. Web & E-Comm focused application/software development, testing, and debugging
2. Programming updates and enhancements to existing websites and apps
3. Integration with 3rd party applications / API’s
4. Results focused development and efficient use of time
5. Collaboration with design team on integration of design and functionality
6. Project-related interaction with clients, as required
7. Various other programming related projects as appointed by management
8. Ability to put in an honest effort of 40 hours in a full work week

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

1. Senior level with extensive experience in programming and development.
2. Strong knowledge and experience developing in PHP
3. Knowledge of MySQL and an understanding of relational databases
4. Strong understanding of functional JavaScript (not just JS frameworks)
5. MVC architecture knowledge and experience
6. Strong understanding of REST API integrations
7. Familiarity with open source frameworks like CakePHP, WordPress, Joomla, OpenCart, Magento, Drupal, Laravel, etc
8. Strength using Javascript based frameworks/libraries like ExtJS, React, Angular, Vue, jQuery, Ionic , Gatsby, Framework7, etc
9. Ability to efficiently adapt to fully custom CMS frameworks
10. Familiarity with Linux, including the ability to navigate using the command line, ability to copy/move/delete files, change permissions on files/directories, use commands like find, grep, tail, vim, etc.
11. General understanding of front-end UI technologies including JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
12. Understanding code versioning and source code management tools (GIT, Subversion)
13. Ruby on Rails, .NET, AWS, Cloudflare Workers experience a plus (not required)
14. Related Web Dev or IT company experience at the professional level
15. Preferably having earned a degree in computer science, web development or related field
16. Personable and able to adapt easily to new situations and environments
17. Comfortable working directly with clients and meeting with clients, as required
18. Self-starting and able to operate independent of direct supervision
19. Able to be take a concept and work through a full-functioning environment
