Web Developer & Designer
Our Mission: We Help Organizations Succeed through Marketing
Company: Kalen Marketing Solutions
Job Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Location: Remote – U.S.
Build Websites That Look Great, Work Well, and Support Real Marketing Goals
Kalen Marketing Solutions is a strategy-first marketing firm that helps organizations grow through thoughtful, results-driven marketing.
We’re looking for a Web Developer & Designer who can own both the creative and technical sides of building a website. This role is for someone who can take a website from concept and layout through development, launch, and ongoing optimization, not someone limited to either design or development alone.
You’ll design and develop responsive, user-friendly websites and landing pages; maintain and troubleshoot existing client websites; manage technical website needs; and collaborate with our Marketing Consultants, creative team, and digital team to make sure each website supports the client's broader marketing strategy.
While this is not a digital advertising role, you should understand how websites connect to Google Ads, paid social, SEO, analytics, conversion tracking, CRM systems, and lead-generation campaigns. You won't be responsible for managing those campaigns, but you will be responsible for making sure the website is built to support them.
Above all, we're looking for someone who understands that a successful website has to do more than look good, it needs to work well, guide users intentionally, and support measurable business goals.
What You’ll Do
Website Design
- Design professional, modern websites and landing pages aligned with client brands, audiences, and business objectives.
- Translate website strategy, content, and client goals into thoughtful page layouts and user experiences.
- Create page structures, wireframes, mockups, and visual concepts as needed before development.
- Make informed decisions around typography, hierarchy, spacing, imagery, calls to action, navigation, and overall visual presentation.
- Apply UX/UI best practices to create websites that are intuitive and easy to navigate.
- Design responsive experiences that work effectively across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Maintain consistency with established client brand standards while knowing when to recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with Kalen's creative team when additional brand assets, photography, video, illustration, or specialized design elements are needed.
Website Development
- Develop, update, maintain, and troubleshoot client websites.
- Handle both front-end and back-end website development.
- Build websites primarily within WordPress and Elementor while working with applicable themes, plugins, hosting environments, and related technologies.
- Customize website functionality using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and other applicable technologies.
- Translate approved website concepts and designs into accurate, responsive, functional webpages.
- Build landing pages designed to support lead generation, paid advertising, campaigns, events, and other marketing initiatives.
- Configure and troubleshoot forms, scheduling tools, CRM connections, tracking scripts, pixels, and third-party integrations.
- Troubleshoot website errors, plugin conflicts, integrations, broken functionality, forms, tracking issues, and performance concerns.
- Test website functionality across devices and browsers before launch.
Website Management & Technical Support
- Manage website updates, backups, migrations, domains, DNS, hosting, SSL certificates, plugins, themes, and other technical website needs.
- Support new website launches, redesigns, hosting transitions, and migrations.
- Perform ongoing website maintenance and updates for hosted and managed client websites.
- Monitor and improve website speed, performance, mobile responsiveness, accessibility, security, and overall user experience.
- Diagnose technical issues and independently research solutions when problems arise.
- Maintain clear documentation of website configurations, integrations, credentials, updates, and technical processes.
- Follow internal quality assurance processes before websites or significant updates are released.
SEO, Analytics & Marketing Integration
You will not own digital advertising campaigns, but you should understand how your work affects their performance.
- Implement technical and on-page SEO best practices during website development.
- Properly structure headings, metadata, internal links, images, URLs, redirects, and other foundational SEO elements.
- Understand the role of Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, conversion tracking, pixels, and related measurement tools.
- Implement and troubleshoot tracking codes, pixels, tags, and website events in collaboration with Kalen's digital team.
- Ensure forms, calls, scheduling tools, and other website conversion points can be properly measured.
- Understand how landing-page structure, page speed, mobile experience, calls to action, and conversion paths can affect paid advertising performance.
- Collaborate with digital specialists when website changes are needed to support Google Ads, Meta campaigns, SEO, remarketing, or other digital initiatives.
- Understand enough about digital marketing to recognize when a website issue may be affecting campaign performance and proactively raise the concern.
CRM, Forms & Integrations
- Build and connect website forms, landing pages, scheduling tools, and lead-generation experiences.
- Support integrations with platforms such as HighLevel, Mailchimp, CRMs, call-tracking systems, analytics platforms, and other marketing technologies.
- Troubleshoot integrations and data flow between websites and connected systems.
- Work with the appropriate team members to ensure website-generated leads are routed and tracked correctly.
- Research and recommend website tools, plugins, integrations, or technical solutions when appropriate.
Collaboration & Project Management
- Work closely with Marketing Consultants to understand the client's business goals, audience, brand, and website objectives before beginning production.
- Translate strategic direction into effective website design and functionality.
- Collaborate with designers, writers, digital specialists, content creators, and other team members throughout website projects.
- Participate in website strategy sessions, planning meetings, internal reviews, and creative discussions.
- Receive and implement internal and client feedback while maintaining the integrity and usability of the website.
- Proactively identify concerns, gaps, dependencies, and opportunities before they create delays or rework.
- Manage multiple client websites, development projects, maintenance requests, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Accurately track time and complete assigned work within approved project scopes, estimates, and budgets.
- Clearly communicate roadblocks, technical concerns, project needs, and recommendations.
- Stay current with web development, UX/UI, accessibility, SEO, WordPress, AI, and emerging website technologies.
Who You Are
You live out our core values:
-
Integrity: You take ownership of your work, communicate honestly, and follow through.
-
Intention: You understand why you're building something before deciding how to build it.
-
Results-Driven: You care about whether a website accomplishes its purpose—not simply whether it launches.
-
Collaborative: You communicate clearly and work well with strategists, creatives, digital specialists, and clients.
-
Goal-Oriented: You stay organized, manage competing priorities, and keep projects moving forward.
You also:
- Are equally comfortable thinking about how a website looks and how it works.
- Can take a website from concept through design, development, testing, and launch.
- Have a strong visual eye and understand layout, typography, hierarchy, spacing, and user experience.
- Can troubleshoot website problems without needing step-by-step direction.
- Understand that websites are marketing and conversion tools, not simply digital brochures.
- Understand how website decisions can affect SEO, advertising, tracking, lead generation, and conversion performance.
- Know when to solve a problem independently and when an issue needs collaboration with another specialty.
- Pay close attention to details while keeping the client's larger business objective in mind.
- Can explain technical concepts clearly to nontechnical team members.
- Are comfortable receiving feedback and revising work without losing sight of the original objective.
- Are organized, proactive, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects at once.
- Enjoy researching solutions and continuously learning new technology and web practices.
Experience & Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in website design and development; agency or multi-client experience preferred.
