We are looking for skilled Software Developers to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.

Your expertise in database architecture, API development, system design, and infrastructure engineering will ensure each prompt and response is technically robust and grounded in real-world software practices. We welcome professionals from diverse software engineering backgrounds—backend, full stack, systems, or infrastructure—to help create high-quality training material for advanced AI systems. You’re a good fit if you:

1. Have 3+ years of software engineering experience from top-tier technology startups, quantitative trading firms, hedge funds, or similarly demanding environments.
2. Hold a Computer Science degree from a prestigious university in the U.S., Canada, or the UK.
3. Have demonstrated success leading teams to build complex database schemas.
4. Possess expert-level proficiency as a Software engineer, Web developer, IT admin or a Database admin.
5. Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and rigorous problem-solving skills.
6. Excel in both written and verbal communication.

Role Highlights

1. Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.
2. Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.
3. Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension.

Role Start Date

1. This role will begin in early to mid-July with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

Interview Process

1. You will take an AI interview where you will be asked questions about your background in software engineering.
2. You will share your screen and write a detailed prompt to generate an AI response about a software engineering topic.
3. You will evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more effective and accurate.
4. Applicants will be selected based on their performance in the AI interview and on the accuracy and quality of their evaluations.

Compensation and Legal Details

1. You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
2. We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
