About The Role

Emergent Method is seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Web Developer to join its creative services team. The ideal candidate will work closely with team members and clients to understand project requirements and develop innovative, high-quality websites and digital solutions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, from maintaining existing websites to building new responsive applications from scratch. The Web Developer will be instrumental in ensuring that client needs are met through technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and adherence to best practices in web development. The position is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but remote candidates are encouraged to apply, offering flexibility and the chance to work in a collaborative environment regardless of location.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, digital communication, or related field; or a reputable certification from a coding bootcamp; or equivalent work experience
2. Minimum of three years of relevant experience in translating visual designs into functional websites and integrating them into content management systems
3. Proficiency with Craft CMS, WordPress, or other popular CMS platforms
4. Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and working familiarity with JavaScript
5. Experience with UI/UX design tools such as Figma and Sketch
6. Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
7. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
8. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
9. Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Svelte and SvelteKit
10. Knowledge of API integration and working in headless environments utilizing GraphQL
11. Basic understanding of PHP and Twig templating

Responsibilities

1. Manage and maintain existing websites by updating code, content, security measures, and plugins to ensure optimal performance and security
2. Assist in building responsive websites and applications from scratch using semantic, version-controlled code
3. Collaborate with internal teams including designers, project managers, and other developers to understand client needs and propose appropriate web or digital solutions
4. Stay informed about the latest web development trends, principles, and best practices to continuously enhance skills and project quality
5. Contribute to the growth of the company’s web service offerings by sharing innovative ideas and solutions
6. Implement and test new features, troubleshoot issues, and optimize website performance
7. Integrate third-party APIs and services to enhance website functionality
8. Participate in code reviews, documentation, and team meetings to ensure project alignment and quality standards
