Position Summary

The Web Developer will play a critical role in supporting OneCarolina’s digital transformation initiatives by developing, customizing, and maintaining Drupal-based websites and platforms. This position will focus on creating and maintaining high-quality, user-friendly, and scalable web properties, including the university’s Campaign site and the internal OneCarolina Hub. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with collaborative problem-solving skills to enhance user engagement, operational efficiency, and organizational impact.

As a core member of the University Development Office’s Digital Innovation team, the Web Developer will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure seamless communication, alignment, and project delivery. This role will also ensure the university’s digital properties meet accessibility, security, and performance standards while remaining adaptable to evolving technological trends.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master’s and 1-2 years’ experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.


Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  1. Proficiency in developing and maintaining Drupal websites, including expertise in the most recent iterations of Drupal.
  2. Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  3. Experience with theming, custom module development, and third-party integrations.
  4. Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), security best practices, and performance optimization.
  5. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  6. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  1. Experience working in higher education or large, decentralized organizations.
  2. Familiarity with Acquia or other Drupal hosting platforms.
  3. Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD workflows.
  4. Understanding of digital marketing technologies (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics).
