Title: Web Application Developer (Remote)
Duration: 10 Months
Location: Remote

Note:- As all work can be completed remotely, the contractor may be based anywhere.

Description:-

The key objectives for this project are:

  • Create a reusable Flask Blueprints module that can be added to any Flask application and provides authentication via the Client's SSO service
  • Implement the SSO module in each web application, integrating the new authentication service into applications that rely on external authentication
  • Verify correct operation in a development environment
  • Participate in rolling the modified applications to production

Technical Direction of Work

Day-to-day work activities will be under the direction of the APS SSO project lead.

Task and Time Reporting

Timesheets will be submitted on a weekly basis and will be approved by the Infrastructure team manager. A short weekly report is required indicating tasks worked on, progress against the charges, and anticipated tasks for the next week.

Computer Protection Program

The contractor may have root access to government computers. The contractor shall adhere to all policies and procedures of the Client's Computer Protection Program, must not bypass any procedures established to protect data, applications, hardware, or communications at Client's, and must maintain a work environment that will satisfy audit, privacy, and protection requirements, and must report any findings of inadequacies to the technical contact and the APS Cyber Security Program Representative.

Qualifications

The following are essential skills/experiences for this position in order of priority. Resumes that do not possess all, or at least most, of these skills should not be presented for consideration.

Web application developer who must have the following skills:

  • Intermediate familiarity with Linux operating system (CentOS/Red Hat preferred) and command-line operations
  • Basic familiarity with Apache 2.4 configuration, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Basic experience with Subversion and/or Git source code control system
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Python 2.7 and 3.6, including object-oriented features and programming
  • Intermediate experience with Flask and WSGI application development
  • Basic to intermediate experience with Python virtual environments
  • Basic to intermediate experience with SAML and Shibboleth as they apply to single sign-on

Generally useful skills and background:

  • Language and technology proficiencies:
    • Bash
    • Vim editor and/or IDE
  • Interpersonal skills
    • Ability to communicate openly and often with teammates and remain open to new ideas
