The Department of Art at Florida State University
This is a 9-month contract commencing on Aug. 6, 2024, and concluding on May 5, 2025. There are no service obligations during this period, and the course load will be a 3/3.
The successful candidate will instruct both beginning and advanced undergraduate courses. Additionally, the faculty member in this position is expected to maintain a substantial agenda of professional creative activity and/or scholarship suitable for an R1 university.
Master's in Fine Art in Studio Art or related field with a concentration in Painting and Drawing.
Two years of teaching experience.
The Department of Art at Florida State University seeks applications for a 1-year Visiting Assistant Professor to lead Painting and Drawing courses. We seek individuals with a dedicated commitment to 21st-century painting, possessing extensive expertise in the field encompassing materials and techniques, form, and content. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to engage students in contemporary, historical, and conceptual aspects of painting and drawing, offering diverse approaches from perceptual to conceptual. A strong familiarity with contemporary art discourse is essential. Candidates should exhibit potential for outstanding research, excellence in teaching, and active creative practice.
The Department of Art confers BA, BFA, and MFA (3-year) Studio Art degrees. Our top-ranked programs encourage interdisciplinary investigations across a wide range of concentrations spanning Book Arts, Ceramics, Drawing, Electronic Art, Moving Image, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture.
