Job Description:

Wild Horse Peaks is looking for a Vineyard Manager to join the team. This role is responsible for overseeing all vineyard operations including planting, pruning, pest/disease control, irrigation, harvesting, and more. The position manages vineyard crews and staff, ensures proper care of vines, and makes decisions to maximize grape yield and quality.

Roles and Responsibilities:
 

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee all vine cultivation tasks such as planting, pruning, spraying, irrigating, and harvesting.
  • Hire, train, and supervise vineyard staff including vineyard workers, etc.
  • Provides feedback and guidance to vineyard workers to yield the best results.
  • Monitor vine health and development, detect pest/disease issues, and determine corrective actions.
  • Decide on the best trellis systems, pruning methods, canopy management, and other viticultural practices.
  • Track and record details on vine phenology, crop yields, ripeness levels, etc.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of vineyard equipment and infrastructure.
  • Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with wine makers and managing members to provide monthly and quarterly updates.
  • Coordinate with winemakers on harvesting timing, grape ripening, and delivery
  • Develop and manage vineyard annual budgets and long-term capital improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, labor laws, sustainability standards, etc.
  • Stay current on innovations in viticulture through continuing education and networking.



Requirements:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in viticulture, horticulture, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in commercial vineyard operations
  • Expert knowledge of viticulture practices and grape growing
  • Leadership, personnel management, and budgeting skills
  • Strong problem solving, organization, and communication abilities.
  • Adaptability to work in outdoor environment in all weather.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate farm vehicles/equipment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a must.
