Our ideal candidate is a video editing wizard who is comfortable with fast turnaround and strict deadlines. Knowledge of best video editing practices for YouTube is a must. Experience in news, journalism or true crime is preferred but not required. The Video Editor will work closely with the Lead Video Editor and social media team.
This role will be instrumental in developing unique and compelling video experiences that feel comprehensive and enjoyable to audiences on YouTube and social media. Law&Crime is a competitive and fast-paced network in the ever-evolving media landscape.
Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Develop and produce digital video content for YouTube and Social Media utilizing but not limited to digital content collections, video assets, graphics, etc.
- Transforming video scripts into final long-form productions at least twice per day
- Editing news packages, podcast shows, and new digital series
- Edit engaging content quickly and efficiently while meeting deadlines
- Filling in for other editors when they are OOO
- Work closely with the video editing team and social media team to support overall workflow
- Utilizing graphics packages, MOGRTs, Adobe templates, and other Law&Crime branded graphics
- Uphold and enforce Law&Crime’s national standards and practices, editorial and branding guidelines
- Uphold and enforce YouTube’s monetization standards and practices, as well as editorial and online safety guidelines
- Research related media trends and stay up to date on technology, news and trends in order to assist in keeping Law & Crime Network and its streaming offerings both competitive and true to our mission
- Occasionally staying late to edit breaking news stories
Requirements For Success:
- Fast editing turnaround time; Strict adherence to tight deadlines
- Experience editing video content for social media and YouTube
- Strong editorial judgment, creativity and independence
- Ability to edit long-form documentary-style projects
- Ability to take constructive criticism and then quickly make changes to edits when necessary
- 2 years of professional work experience in related-fields
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Preferred area of study Communication, Film, Journalism, Production, or related field
- Familiarity with video & graphic editing software (ex. Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, DaVinci, Avid)
- Experience and an ability to communicate and work collaboratively with internal and external teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Outstanding use of time management
- Ability to take initiative and act independently and proactively
- Ability to edit remotely with a solid internet connection
