Job Description:

Bring your user experience (UX) knowledge to help create, inspire, and influence user-centered design at Esri and beyond.

Working in collaboration with the UX/UI Marketing team and a dedicated mentor, you will work on tangible and exploratory projects with members of the team and stakeholders across various aspects of our website. Using methodologies and tools from your courses, you will start to apply your knowledge and skills using research, information architecture, and design thinking. Projects may include working on E-commerce, Products, Industries, Events, and Campaign marketing pages across esri.com, as well as helping conduct user research studies.

With a passion for designing experiences, you’ll be part of a team that designs web pages viewed by tens of millions of users from around the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and mixed-method UX research to explore or test concepts, prototypes, and live sites, and recommend evidence-driven solutions to enhance user experiences across the site.
  • Design wireframes with components and strategy defined by a design system.
  • Work in partnership with your UX and user interface (UI) design mentor & teammates, business stakeholders, project managers, and content writers.
  • Distill complex problems into refined solutions through organizing content, structure, and information architecture into user flows, wireframes, and interaction design.
  • Create presentations in order to present work to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Work on and complete five projects within dedicated timelines.

Program Timeline

  • Applications Accepted: September 1 – December 31, 2022 at 5:00 pm PST
  • Interviews: Students selected for phone interviews will be notified by email on a rolling basis October 2022 – January 31, 2023
  • Internship: 12 weeks beginning in late May or June

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate, graduate, or PhD program at a university in the United States; undergraduates must be in a junior or senior standing
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2023
  • Able to complete a 12-week internship beginning in May or June 2023
  • Working toward a Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, user experience, interaction design, applied social science, or a related field.
  • Experience with design software, such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Holistic thinker, collaborative worker, creative problem-solver.
  • Basic UX design experience, such as conceptual ideation, wireframing, and prototyping.
  • Familiarity with various design research methodologies, such as qualitative interviewing, usability research, ethnography, or mixed method studies.

PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION
Please include a link to your online portfolio or PDF samples of recent work. Samples must communicate your approach to evidence-driven problem solving on school or real-world projects and demonstrate your skills in developing evidence-based insights and design solutions through a mix of low- and high-fidelity deliverables
