Forbes is seeking an Editor to join our newsroom’s audience team for a temporary assignment, helping to curate, elevate, and spark ideas for our journalism. The editor will play a key role in sending our breaking news email alerts, so should be comfortable writing and testing headlines and subject lines, have a sharp understanding of the news cycle, and be able to measure performance with help from the analytics team. The role will also help grow our presence on social platforms with a particular focus on LinkedIn, where they will post stories, build community, and help us understand what performs well. An understanding of social platforms and audience strategy is a must. This role will report into the Senior Editor, News & Audience.

Responsibilities

1. Write accurate, clear and lively editorial emails, including subject lines
2. Build email alerts for news stories
3. Craft social posts for platforms including LinkedIn and Instagram
4. Track performance of emails and posts and adjust strategies accordingly
5. Identify trends and opportunities on social platforms and communicate effectively with editors
6. Liaise with other audience, social and editorial teams
7. 
   

The Ideal Candidate

1. 1-3 years experience in a digital newsroom — experience working on tight deadlines, and working with social media platforms, metrics, and/or social copy a plus
2. Experience writing headlines and the ability to write sharp, succinct copy
3. Experience with Canva or other design programs a plus.
4. Sharp news judgment and an understanding of what readers want
5. Comfort analyzing metrics across multiple platforms and communicating results and insights back to team members
6. Experience—or strong interest—in business journalism
7. Experience and interest in curation/distribution — working with various platforms and products to get our journalism out to the world
8. Ability to identify, write and edit compelling subject lines, social copy, and emails to drive strong engagement
9. Willing to use data to guide content decisions and methodical in testing ideas in order to achieve desired results
10. Comfortable working in a fast paced and deadline-driven organization
11. Highly adaptable and quick to learn processes
12. Should be news obsessive with a passion for thinking quickly and creatively to identify and pursue opportunities.

The hourly rate for this role is $28.85 - $28.85.
