Nutanix is looking for a technical writer/illustrator to join our Technical Publications team and create best-in-class end-user and internal documentation (illustrations and text) for Nutanix server hardware.

We’re looking for a candidate who is able to photograph, illustrate, and describe server hardware. The successful candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and able to produce multiple deliverables with frequent deadlines. Candidates should have the flexibility to learn new products and technologies quickly and to move from project to project as needed.

This position can be hybrid (minimum of 2 days per week in office; more as required by job duties) or fully on-premises and is based at Nutanix’s San Jose headquarters.

About The Team

Nutanix Technical Publications comprises more than 35 talented professionals in the US and India who work closely with geographically dispersed cross-functional partners including product managers, hardware, software, and support engineers, and other internal and external stakeholders to document Nutanix’s hardware, software, and solutions. We are part of the Nutanix Engineering organization. You’ll report to the Hardware Documentation Manager.

Your Role

• Create illustrations and written content documenting hardware technology and installation, configuration, and operating procedures using 2D vector and 3D CAD illustrations, blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, prototypes, product samples, subject-matter expert interviews, and other sources.
• Create written documentation following DITA XML standards and publish it using Github and CI/CD.
• Photograph and take videos of prototypes, product samples, and final products to educate Tech Pubs colleagues, function as interim images in documentation, and serve as the basis of illustrations.
• Follow Nutanix Tech Pubs processes and guidelines for illustrations and written documentation and for keeping records of work status, deliverables, and revisions.
• Manage multiple projects according to assigned project priority and execute action plans.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Required

What You Will Bring

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) in a relevant area of study or equivalent experience
• Portfolio demonstrating technical illustration and technical writing experience
• Two to five years of experience using industry-standard computer-aided design and 3D modeling software for the purpose of preparing drawings and illustrations
• Strong technical aptitude, demonstrating familiarity with server, networking, and storage hardware and software
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds of server hardware for photography and videography purposes

• Two to five years of experience using Adobe Creative Suite Software or comparable publishing software for the creation of illustrations, manuals, and other publications
• Basic understanding of structured authoring (DITA XML)
• One to two years of photography and videographer experience
  
  

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 97,120 and USD $ 192,960 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
