Who we’re looking for

We need an experienced technical writer with a strong editorial background in accounting, and tax publication. You should have expertise in crafting clear, well-researched content for tax accountants and professionals. A CPA or Enrolled Agent is a plus but not required. If you have a passion for translating complex tax topics into engaging, insightful content, we’d love to hear from you!

What you’ll be doing

1. Researching and writing high-quality technical content for accountants and tax professionals.
2. Managing and curating the publication process, structuring content to align with industry best practices and audience needs.
3. Collaborating with subject matter experts to transform complex tax and accounting concepts into well-structured, digestible, and engaging articles.
4. Editing and reviewing content submissions from team members, maintaining consistency, readability, and compliance with editorial and industry standards.
5. Ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving tax laws, accounting trends, and regulatory changes to keep content relevant and authoritative.
6. Developing in-depth whitepapers, research reports, and industry insights, positioning the publication as a go-to resource in the tax and accounting sector.
7. Implementing SEO-driven content strategies to maximize reach, engagement, and visibility across relevant industry platforms.
8. Leading the editorial development and creation of an accounting and tax-focused journal, ensuring high standards of accuracy, depth, and clarity.
9. Leveraging TaxGPT AI writing tools to generate, fact-check and create case studies for the CPAs, Tax Lawyers and enrolled agents.

What makes you a good fit

1. 3+ years of experience in tax, or accounting journalism, with editorial and content development expertise.
2. Strong ability to translate complex accounting and tax regulations into clear, easy-to-understand content.
3. Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills.
4. Understanding of regulatory and compliance standards in the finance and accounting industry.
5. Experience managing editorial processes and structuring content for industry publications.
6. Ability to manage multiple content-related tasks simultaneously, maintaining high-quality standards while meeting deadlines.
7. Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, ensuring consistency in tone and formatting.
8. Familiarity with SEO and content marketing strategies for financial and technical writing.
9. Strong familiarity with AI writing, publishing, and content editing tools.

Nice to Have

1. CPA, Enrolled Agent, Tax Law, or journalism education preferred.
2. Experience conducting interviews with industry professionals and incorporating insights into content.
3. Knowledge of publishing tools, CMS platforms, and analytics tools.
4. Strong desire for learning, testing, and building cutting-edge AI tools.
5. Experience with running an accounting or tax community or online groups.

Our hiring process

Our hiring process is fast, simple, and unique.

Step 1: Application (You’re here!)

Submit a quick Typeform application for initial screening, and we’ll review how your skills and experience fit the role.

Note: Both steps are required to move forward in the process.

Step 2: Take-Home Assignment (2-3 hours)

After passing the initial screening, you will receive a technical writing assignment, which must be completed within 3 days of receiving it. This assignment will assess your writing structure, research depth, and ability to translate complex topics into engaging content.

Step 3: Final Interview

If your writing assignment meets our standards, you will be invited to a 30-minute interview via video call. The interview will include 30 minutes reviewing your assignment and discussing editorial processes, followed by 15 minutes for general Q&A.

Step Four: Founder 1:1 & Final Offer

A 30-minute 1:1 meeting with our founder to discuss the role, expectations, and final offer.
