We’re looking for a self-motivated and experienced technical writer who has experience creating technical documentation using Mad Cap Flare. The ideal candidate has expert ability to engage directly with clients to create and present complex technical information in simple and clear text.
Responsibilities:
- Create technical documentation of internal and client procedures, manuals, training, and regulatory-required documentation using Madcap Flare.
- Host-Lead client workshops, interview SME’s and communicate clearly and confidently
- Lead documentation projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards
- Create and implement documentation management workflows
- Prepare presentations and create –maintain internal documentation
- Research to gain an in-depth understanding of client products, procedures, or other material to be documented
- Perform assessments of existing client documentation to determine whether there are any gaps in regulatory compliance
- Interview and collaborate with subject matter experts to verify the accuracy of technical content to ensure that written procedures correctly portray client practices
- Simplify complex technical material by breaking it down into understandable steps that can be followed by the end-user to achieve the intended results
- Review and edit technical material written by others (engineers, geologists, etc.) for clarity, conciseness, grammar, and consistent formatting
- Format documents in accordance with the client’s existing style guidelines and as needed, determining new formatting and/or creating new style guides for clients
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience creating, updating, delivering technical documentation--energy sector experience preferred (Operations Manuals, Emergency Response Manuals)
- 2+ years of hands-on MadCap Flare / Flare Online experience, including full-cycle project development, PDF and online outputs, and designing presentation templates
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related field (Note: Technical writing certification preferred)
- 2+ years implementing-managing documentation management systems
- Exceptional writing skills with mastery of English grammar, clarity, and structure
- Proven ability to lead/facilitate live / remote client SME and leadership meetings/work sessions
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage deadlines independently using task-management tools
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
- Experience with Smartsheet, Drupal, Workday, and Rise (Articulate) is a plus
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to energy and oil & gas documentation preferred or ability to quickly learn such
- Experience working with instructional designers / graphic designers is a plus
- Ability to travel to client sites as needed
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a fully remote environment
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

- Authorization: Candidate must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States
- Salary Range: $83,000-$94,000 annual salary
- Expected hours: 8:00 am-5:00 pm CST
- Benefits: Generous paid time off
