Packaging & Labeling Technical Designer
SAP Position Title: Associate Designer
Responsibilities
- New Product Support – development, design and execution of the Printed Packaging Materials (PPM) development supporting all Lilly manufacturing sites:
- Interact with Lilly Regulatory (Global and Affiliate), Printed Packaging Development (Hubs and Regional), Packaging Sites, and Quality (Global and Site) in creating artwork files for new products
- Support product launches – provide technical support for the commercialization of new products; work with creative development teams to establish art files for ideal manufacturing scenarios
- Coordinate all PPM process changes, maintenance of solutions, and analysis and management of any future related initiatives
- Continuous improvement initiatives
- Knowledge Sharing – Provide ongoing technical support to Printed Packaging Development groups globally. Provide information in the technical transfer of artwork and related specifications to commercialize new products globally.
- Engineering Support - Provide packaging technical support to Global Packaging Engineers with respect to artwork creation for new and test materials, including related specifications (Layouts, Material Specifications)
- Design Engineer Support – Assist Global Design Engineers with technical evaluation, file development, and specific problem resolution including troubleshooting to develop/revise printed packaging materials.
- Global Labeling Platform— support the Labeling platform on global initiatives and process improvements including artwork management system initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimally an Associate's Degree in graphic design or similar field, preferably a Bachelor's degree, or significant equivalent experience
- 3 years minimum Graphic Design and/or Packaging Engineering Experience
- Experience/Expertise using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, or equivalent; strong focus on Illustrator and Indesign
- Proficient with Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Additional Skills/ Preferences
- Understanding of artwork specifications, artwork management systems, graphic design & CAD software, and packaging materials
- Understanding of printing processes and vendor interaction, including printers and graphic agencies
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work on tight timelines effectively
- Ability to handle real-time feedback in high pressure situations (related to design)
- Excellent self-management and organization skills
- Familiarity with technology advances in graphic design
- Capable of managing and balancing multiple initiatives concurrently
- Pre-press and manufacturing design experience desired
Additional Information
- Minimal travel required
- Will require occasional work in manufacturing environment
- Safety equipment and /or gowning may be required
- This is an onsite position and will require onsite presence the majority of the time at Lilly Technology Center - South (LTC-S). Normal business hours.
