TITLE: Technical Designer – Freelance

HOURLY RATE: $40-$65 (Based upon experience)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Technical Designer – will work with the Design teams to create tech packs, specs, measure samples, fit and analyze samples and communicate with factories from concept through to production approval.

PRINCIPAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The Technical Designer – will regularly work with Design and Product Development teams.

TRAVEL:

The Technical Designer – will not be required to travel. In-office attendance is expected.

EXAMPLE DAILY TASKS:

-Communicate with fit model agency to schedule fittings.

-Work with designer to develop initial tech pack and spec details.

-Measure samples, take pictures, record information in PLM system.

-Conduct fittings on woven and knitted apparel, gloves and cold weather items. Make all spec changes, create technical sketches as needed to communicate changes.

-Communicate with factories to respond to questions in a timely manner to ensure all calendar deadlines are met.

-Collaborate with PD partners to call out changes that may affect costing or delivery.

SKILLS/CHARACTERISTICS:

-Bachelor's Degree in Patternmaking, Textiles or Fashion Design.

-8-10+ years of experience.

-Woven, knit, gloves and cold weather accessories experience

-Must have knowledge of fully-fashioned knitwear: yarns, gauges, stitches, and construction.

-Adobe Illustrator Required

-Working knowledge of PLM system

Ability to generate detailed technical packages: specs, sketches, and technical direction.

-Exceptional organization abilities with attention to detail and follow through.

-Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members at all levels of the organization.
