Job Description:

Tax Strategy and Engagement Oversight

  1. Develop cutting-edge tax planning strategies that leverage industry insights and regulatory expertise
  2. Provide visionary insights in areas such as tax optimization, risk management, and emerging tax trends
  3. Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standards
  4. Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions
  5. Manage engagement progress, budgets, and deadlines, making strategic adjustments as required


Research and Analysis

  1. Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, applying this knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiatives
  2. Provide expert guidance on complex tax scenarios, research inquiries, and emerging compliance trends


Client Communication

  1. Foster and nurture high-level client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor for complex tax matters
  2. Lead client meetings, understand their financial objectives, and develop tailored tax strategies that align with their goals


Team Collaboration

  1. Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of seasoned tax professionals, encouraging a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence
  2. Provide guidance, continuous learning opportunities, and support to facilitate the team's professional advancement


Process Improvement and Innovation

  1. Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance tax workflows, methodologies, and quality control procedures
  2. Shape and execute the tax practice's strategic vision, aligning with the firm's broader goals
  3. Implement innovations that improve efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction


Strategic Business Development

  1. Drive the firm's business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, nurturing client leads, and expanding service offerings
  2. Play a key role in proposal development, client presentations, and strategic Managing Director initiatives
  3. Collaborate with executive leadership to drive projects that enhance the firm's market presence and competitive edge


Supervisory responsibilities

  1. Will supervise subordinate team members


Work environment

  1. Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions


Physical demands

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time
  2. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time


Travel required

  1. Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client’s needs


Required education and experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  2. 10+ years of relevant experience
  3. 8+ years of progressive tax leadership experience in a CPA firm or related professional service environment
  4. CPA license
  5. Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement
  6. Specific positions may require additional industry or specialization certifications
  7. Software: CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research


Preferred education and experience

  1. Advanced degree (Master's) or additional relevant certifications
  2. Juris Doctor (JD) degree for specialty positions

This range considers many factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s knowledge, job specific skills, experience, licensure, and certifications. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $204,000 to $288,000.
