Job Description:

The Windows Server Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the Windows Server environment within an organization. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation, availability, and security of Windows servers and related services. Additionally, knowledge of Microsoft 365 and VMWare ESX 7.0/8.0 is required to handle server administration tasks related to virtualization and cloud services.

Key Responsibilities:

Windows Server and VMWare Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems.
  • Manage and maintain VMWare ESX 7.0/8.0 virtualization infrastructure.
  • Monitor and optimize server and virtual machine performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
  • Apply security patches, updates, and firmware upgrades to ensure server and virtualization platform stability and security.
  • Troubleshoot server and virtualization-related issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for servers and virtual machines.
  • Manage server roles and features, such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and print services.
  • Ensure server and virtualization platform compliance with organizational and industry standards.

Microsoft 365 Administration:

  • Manage Microsoft 365 tenant settings, including user provisioning, licensing, and permissions.
  • Configure and maintain Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 services for availability, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Microsoft 365 services with existing infrastructure.
  • Implement and enforce security policies and controls within Microsoft 365.
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365-related issues, including email, document collaboration, and communication.

System Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor server and virtualization infrastructure using appropriate tools to ensure availability and performance.
  • Analyze system logs, event viewer, and performance counters to identify and resolve issues.
  • Proactively identify potential server or virtualization-related problems and take preventive actions.
  • Respond to and resolve server and virtualization-related incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and support teams for complex technical issues.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement security best practices and guidelines to protect Windows servers, virtual machines, and data.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and implement appropriate security measures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, such as HIPAA, GDPR, or SOX.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents, perform security audits, and assist in forensic investigations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of server and virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Prepare reports on server and virtualization performance, capacity, and security metrics.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to management regarding server and virtualization infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong experience in Windows Server administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in managing Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
  • Experience in managing VMWare ESX 7.0/8.0 virtualization infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and concepts, such as VMWare vCenter, VMotion, and HA.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, vulnerability assessments, and security incident response.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve server and virtualization-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and end-users.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant certifications, such as MCSA: Windows Server, MCSE: Core Infrastructure, VMWare Certified Professional (VCP), or Microsoft 365 certifications, are a plus.

Pay: $78,290.55 - $130,000.00 per year
