OVERVIEW

Vaco is currently seeking a Symitar Programmer for a direct hire opportunity in the financial services. This role will support a highly customized Symitar (Episys) core banking environment, helping to build and enhance mission-critical applications and integrations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on PowerOn development experience and a passion for scalable, user-centric solutions in a remote-friendly setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Design, develop, and support custom programs and enhancements within Symitar/Episys using PowerOn.
2. Create new features and functions, while also supporting configuration and enhancements of existing systems.
3. Build and maintain integrations between Symitar and 3rd-party/vendor platforms using tools such as ELA, EMA, and web services (REST/SOAP).
4. Develop in industry-standard languages including ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, JSON, and XML.
5. Use PowerFrame Docs and other internal tools for documentation and delivery.
6. Work collaboratively with business units and the PMO team to gather requirements, prioritize features, and ensure successful implementation.
7. Conduct testing (unit, integration) independently-note: no separate QA team.
8. Support and troubleshoot live environment issues to minimize system downtime.
9. Participate in Agile/scrum-based workflows; help improve internal development processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. 5+ years of programming experience
2. 2+ years of PowerOn development experience within the Symitar ecosystem
3. Hands-on experience with tools like ELA, EMA, & PowerFrame Docs.
4. Working knowledge of SQL and web development technologies (ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, XML/JSON)
5. Strong communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
6. Experience supporting or integrating core banking or financial platforms

NICE - TO - HAVE

1. Experience supporting highly customized credit union or financial systems
2. Hands-on experience with tools like OpCon, and GoodNight processing
3. Familiarity with Quest database, ELA/EMA messaging, and Symitar integrations
4. Understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile/Scrum preferred)
5. Exposure to vendor coordination and system configuration

In our commitment to transparency throughout the hiring process, we provide a target annual base salary range of $105,000 - $120,000 for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) experience, work location, and skills. Additionally, this position is eligible for comprehensive benefits provided by the hiring employer.
