Responsible for carrying out routine to moderately complex structural engineering assignments under the guidance of Structural Project Manager or other more-experienced structural engineering staff, and in collaboration with the architectural design teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and design structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold-formed steel and wood-framed structures in conformance with governing building codes and design standards. Works with Structural Project Manager or other more-experienced structural engineering staff when questions arise.
- Uses abstract thinking and creativity to resolve problems that fall outside the standards or codes of practice for professional engineering.
- Working towards proficiency in structural engineering software Enercalc and RISA, with ability to learn other structural engineering software as needed.
- Working towards proficiency in primary drawing preparation software Vectorworks, with ability to learn other drawing preparation software, such as AutoCad or Revit, as needed.
- Performs engineering calculations that are legible, accurate, thorough, and appropriate for the problem at hand.
- Developing working knowledge of structural engineering design standards, such as ASCE 7.
- Participates in structural condition assessments.
- Perform construction administration phase services (submittal review, respond to RFI’s, conduct site visits).
