The Termini Laboratory specializing in hematopoiesis, vascular regeneration, and blood cancers, is seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to take the lead on multiple projects focused on bone marrow maintenance and regeneration. The Termini Lab is recruiting a Staff Scientist who is interested in elucidating the molecular interplay between hematopoietic cells and their bone marrow microenvironment. The research effort includes expertise in cell biology, invivo mouse models, and RNA sequence analysis. The candidate will work under the PI and in collaboration with other members of the research team. The candidate will be expected to publish and present their work in both internal and external events.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a leading role in executing projects testing hematopoietic and niche cell function in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo.
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments using cellular biology and bioinformatics.
  • Generate and maintain transgenic mouse models.
  • Lead projects focused on bone marrow and vascular regeneration and assist other lab members in carrying out aspects of these projects as needed. Perform experiments using flow cytometry, microscopy, biochemistry, RNA sequence analyses, and other techniques identified by the PI.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator with projects, supervising, training, and mentoring members of the laboratory.
  • Prepare figures for publications and write and edit manuscripts/abstracts.
  • Develop independent research projects suitable for external funding proposals to be submitted by the PI.
  • Document experimental research in the appropriate format for presentations, publications, and grant proposals.
  • Present your research discoveries at internal and external scientific events.
  • Develop protocols (e.g., IACUC and IRB) and standard operating procedures.
  • Complete basic lab maintenance and lab management tasks as directed by the PI.

Qualifications:

Required experience includes:

  • Generating and maintaining transgenic mouse models.
  • Exceptional proficiency in animal handling.
  • Extensive experience in the fields of cell and molecular biology and vascular biology.
  • Ability to work on a multidisciplinary research team.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in a scientific field is required.
  • Postdoctoral research experience using basic cell biology and in vivo mouse models.
  • Evidence of independent research, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Capacity to develop new research techniques and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate will work well in an interactive and collaborative scientific environment with a significant degree of independence.
  • To be successful in this position, the candidate must be intellectually curious, have strong critical thinking skills, and be highly motivated.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $65,484 to $165,440 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
