The Sr. Platform Architect is responsible for designing, managing, and supporting Alcon’s Digital Cloud Products SaMD (Software as a Medical Device) and leading and enhancing our SaaS-based applications and services for customer-facing ophthalmic medical devices and digital solutions. He/She is responsible for managing the Digital Health Solutions, cloud platform and applications, a liaison between R&D, product managers, sales, and technical teams across the globe. Combining project management, leadership skills, and deep hands-on technical knowledge. We love out-of-the-box ideas and questioning the norm. In this role, a typical day will include:

• Responsible for developing a central technology architecture and common technology capabilities for Alcon’s Digital Initiatives
• Collaborate across the lines of business to align technology priorities.
• Incorporate modern technologies, like cloud-native applications, and software-defined infrastructure, both public cloud and on-prem, into business processes that feed into Alcon’s Digital Initiatives.
• Educate technology teams on business opportunities to help foster product-oriented development.
• Adopt the new technology tools available and move away from old ways of developing solutions and managing work.
• Develop orchestration & runtime projects ranging from Serverless to EKS(Elastic Kubernetes Service) multi-cluster canary blue-green deployments at scale.
• Develop a deep understanding of Alcon’s strategic growth areas and essential capabilities and recognize how technology plays a role in everything Alcon does.
• Develop common capabilities that provide core functionality across business segments.
• Provide architecture and design services to specify solutions that meet or exceed requirements.
• Create architecture and design artifacts as required and review with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Engineering, Networking, Monitoring, and other teams as needed.
• Provide technical vision, direction, and guidance on Engineering strategy and approach to the leadership team and contribute to the departmental strategy plans and roadmaps.
• Build and deploy strategies to use consistent design patterns across platforms, infrastructure, and applications.
• Drive Proof of Concept (PoC) and Proof of Technology (PoT) evaluation on interoperable technology platforms.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
• 5 Years of Relevant Experience
