Job Summary:

The primary function of this role is to implement the functional Enterprise Learning and Development strategy to further drive growth, customer experience, retention, and revenue goals. Manage the planning and execution of assigned business unit programs designed to develop talent. The learning and development programs must meet the needs of the various market segments we support, including the business areas within those segments. This will include new hire training, talent assessment and development, attrition training, on-the-job training, and continuous improvement training. This people leader works at a strategic level for long-range planning and program development and will work closely with the functional Enterprise Learning and Development leader to execute on the needs of our stakeholders.

The Sr. Manager of Functional Enterprise Learning and Development will oversee a cross-functional team to execute on the needs of our stakeholders while providing direct support to the design and training staff. This includes overseeing the analysis, design, development and implementation of learning solutions and multimedia components for supported business units under the GuideWell enterprise. The Sr. Manager of Functional Enterprise Learning and Development conducts consultations with stakeholders to determine appropriate learning solutions for highly complex, multi-component projects, and provides direction and guidance for instructional strategies. Responsible for oversight of L&D learning design, delivery & standards ensuring the effectiveness of all training methods.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Implement the Learning Strategy for a combination of business areas to ensure alignment with the HR Talent Strategy
  • Manage and prioritize multiple initiatives, drive change and innovative thinking with continuous quality improvement as the outcome. Be able to effectively work across functional areas to affect change.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls all activities of assigned department(s). Identifies and manages risks, resolves conflicts and removes barriers that impede area’s ability to achieve goals and performance expectations.
  • Communicate, lead, and support internal resources (Training Leaders, Trainers, Project and Program Managers, Design Managers and ISD’s, measurement & evaluation support, LMS support, IT support, Talent Acquisition, etc.) through ongoing meetings and strategy sessions in designing a plan to execute on the key deliverables, with a specific emphasis on reaching the desired outcome of the overall training and development strategy.
  • Provide input to the instructional designers, trainers, and external resources in development, variation, and delivery of programs to meet the needs of the various Market segments.
  • Lead L&D team to ensure design, development, and delivery of training content, coordination of training efforts and evaluation of training effectiveness for areas supported driving towards business impact and desired ROI.
  • Leads, directs and provides input on initiatives and projects to ensure efficiencies and appropriate processes are implemented and value is realized
  • Perform all applicable human resource responsibilities including hiring new team members, career planning, coaching, development, performance management, etc.
  • Work closely with the various internal stakeholders including Sr. Directors, Directors, Operations Managers, and Sr. Managers to outline key deliverables of the overall training and development strategy. Engage in funding conversations as appropriate and report on agreed upon outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal functional L&D leaders to determine work prioritization recommendations
  • Meet with leaders relative to training needs, and present recommendations to leadership within the business areas supported.
  • Work in partnership with key Senior Directors in the assigned lines of business to understand ongoing business demands requiring Enterprise Learning and Development
  • Lead and direct process to identify and assess talent development needs throughout the organization to support assigned Market segment.

What You Must Have:

  • Demonstrated 6 years of experience in training and development including technical training, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience
  • Experienced in design/delivery of new hire and remediation training programs, talent optimization programs, and applying principles of adult learning.
  • Strong people management and development skills, managing L&D professionals is preferred.
  • Strong project management and operational skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong coaching, development, and performance feedback skills.

What We Would Prefer You Have:

  • Experience crafting innovative and distruptive training solutions for adult learners.
  • Cross-functional Management of L&D teams.
  • General understanding of the health insurance industry.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Systems, Education, Adult Learning, Organization Development or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Strong (Intermediate to Expert) level experience and skills in curriculum design of training programs, applying principles of adult learning, e-learning, and simulations.

General Physical Demands:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.

Must be able to travel to multiple locations for work (i.e. travel to attend meetings, events, conferences).

Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $83,800 - $105,800
Annualized Salary Range: $83,800 - $136,200

Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
