SQL & Java Developer

12-month Contract-to-Hire

Location: Remote (EST preferred)

Pay: $60 - $70/hr (compensation can vary depending on experience)

role focuses on building and supporting reliable, high performing systems that connect enterprise databases with Java-based applications. The successful candidate will combine strong SQL Server expertise with Java development experience to deliver secure, efficient, and scalable solutions.

Most Important Responsibilities:

1. Build, enhance, and support scalable database structures and integrate them with Java-driven applications.
2. Create, maintain, and optimize advanced T-SQL components including queries, stored procedures, and functions and triggers to support system stability and performance.
3. Partner with developers and business teams to embed database functionality into new and existing Java platforms.
4. Contribute to the design and upkeep of data conversion, migration, and ETL workflows.
5. Develop clear technical documentation and conduct comprehensive testing to validate reliability and accuracy.

What you can bring to the table to impact this role, team, and organization:

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
2. 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL-based and Java development roles.
3. Advanced SQL and T-SQL experience.
4. Strong background working with Microsoft SQL Server and tools like SSMS, SSIS, SSRS.
5. Experience building backend Java applications in enterprise environments.
6. Understanding of data modeling, normalization, indexing, and database architecture.
7. Experience using version control platforms such as Git.
8. Familiarity with Maven-based Java projects.
9. Exposure to Liquid is a plus.
