Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Under the direction of the Director of Communications, this position is primarily responsible for assisting the Director to develop and implement an effective digital communications and community outreach program for Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). Communications responsibilities include social media management, newsletter management, graphic design, photography, video production and editing, website management. Community Outreach activities include providing support to internal teams, City, County, and other groups to promote education and awareness regarding homelessness issues throughout Los Angeles County.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and execute social media communications plans.
- Create consistent content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns.
- Monitor trends and trending topics daily to post relevant content to social media platforms.
- Develop social media influencer relationships; make and maintain new connections on all platforms.
Assist in building marketing and promotional materials.
- Help develop community engagement by engaging in dialogue (i.e., commenting, liking posts, responding to messages) with service providers and other partners on social media.
- Develop and send e-newsletters.
- Fulfill department requests for presentation materials, including PowerPoints.
- Develop relationships with internal departments to facilitate the collaboration of communication efforts.
- Assist in updating and maintaining LAHSA Style and Grammar Guide and LAHSA promotional materials.
- Attend events and meetings.
- Assist with the coordination of press conferences and other events as needed.
- Copy editing, writing, and additional special projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of graphic design programs.
- Strong understanding of various social media platforms; actively stays up to date on social media best practices.
- Excellent people skills, specifically customer service skills and a capacity for collaboration and interpersonal relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Successfully multi-task several projects at once, often with tight deadlines while maintaining careful attention to detail.
- Advanced communication skills, and the ability to communicate with all levels of management, staff and external clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse community and organizational groups.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Schedule
- The Executive Director or designee may change the schedule of positions between remote, hybrid and onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA business.

Pay: $64,272.00 - $81,305.46 per year
