Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities. This role involves designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting curriculum to meet the unique learning requirements of each student. The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with parents, staff, and other professionals to ensure that every student achieves their full potential.
Job Description:
- Manage a caseload of students with a variety of educational academic and functional needs ranging from grade 6 through grade 12.
- Delivery of special education services geared towards student IEP goals.
- Ensuring compliance of IEP annual review and evaluation timelines by scheduling meetings, coordinating with team members, and holding IEP meetings
- Ensuring student attendance of service minutes through communication with students and parents
- Documentation of student progress towards IEP goals.
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
- Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
- Participate in appropriate professional activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in the established field.
- Valid South Carolina teaching certificate.
- Valid South Carolina Special Education teaching certificate, preferably multi-categorical.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
- Must meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google.
- Ability to learn new technologies.
- Ability to work remotely
